Dear River Forest residents,

Today is National Senior Citizens Day, which recognizes the positive impact older adults have on our communities. Tomorrow, (Friday, August 22) in honor of this day, the Village is hosting a free BBQ, bingo, and ice cream social to recognize these residents, and their caregivers are also invited. Details on this event, as well as the annual Food Truck Rally starting at 5 p.m. tomorrow, can be found in articles below.

I was honored to attend the ribbon cutting for a new business in town, Garden Health Group, earlier this month. This team of therapists are dedicated to supporting both mental health and physical well-being, and I’m pleased to welcome the organization to our community!

In other exciting news, First Presbyterian Church of River Forest will celebrate its 100th anniversary at its Quick and Lathrop location this October. To mark this impressive milestone, the church is hosting a concert and gala on Saturday, October 18, at 4 p.m. You can learn more and register to attend here.

Sincerely,

Cathy Adduci, Village President

Does your Home Have Lead Pipes?

At the recent “Casual Conversation” event, some residents expressed uncertainty about whether their homes have lead pipes. With the State’s lead pipe replacement program underway, the Village is here to help. If you’re unsure about the materials that make up your home’s pipes, schedule an appointment with the Public Works Department at 708-714-3551. You can also quickly determine what your water line materials are made of by completing a short survey here.
