2025 Crossover Camp

The camp will provide the leadership for the weekend. We ask parents to come to the "graduation" ceremony and cook out on Sunday, but the rest of the time the leadership is the staff. We will have female and male staff members on campus, along with one of our camp medical staff.

Campers stay in tents for the camp. They will be next to the cabins, so in case of an emergency, they will be able to go into the shelters, but the expectation is to stay in the tent. If the Scout has their own tent, they can use that. If they do not, that is ok as well, we have tents that they can borrow. If they come with a friend from their troop, then they will be able to stay in a tent with their troopmate as long as YPT guidelines are followed.

They will start the week by going into a patrol, and work towards their requirements up to first class. They won't be able to do all the requirements, but they will get a ton accomplished. Requirements like the hiking, swimming, lifesaving, first aid, and general scouting. We will also set them up for success for the personal fitness side.

Be Prepared: Scouting for Food in Eastern Massachusetts

April’s theme, Be Prepared, focuses on an essential Scouting initiative: Scouting for Food. This aligns perfectly with our Scouting slogan, Do a Good Turn Daily. Food insecurity affects many families in our communities, and this program provides an excellent opportunity for Scouting units to make a meaningful impact.

Why Participate?

Many families in our region face daily challenges in accessing nutritious food. By participating in Scouting for Food, your unit can help stock local and regional food banks, ensuring neighbors in need have access to essential supplies. This is a chance to teach Scouts the value of service while addressing a critical issue in our communities.

Tips to Get Involved

Here’s how your unit can maximize its efforts during this year’s food drive:

  • Food Pantry:

Units set up the plan with their local Food Bank. Dates of food collection and drop off. Food collection can happen anytime during the year. Food Pantry’s need food all year round.

  • Door Hangers:

Scouts distribute door hangers to let neighbors know about the food drive and encourage them to donate nonperishable items. Contact the Council Office to request Door Hangers.

  • Food Collection:

Scouts return to their neighbors to pick up donated food items like canned goods, cereal, pasta, and other nonperishable items.

  • Delivery:

The collected food is then delivered to local food pantries and banks.

  • Example Items:

Ideal items for a "Perfect Scouting for Food Bag" include hearty soup, canned tuna, and canned fruit.

Be Prepared at Home

While helping others, don’t forget to check your own emergency supplies. Rotate stock regularly and ensure you have food that can be prepared without running water. According to recent survey of Scouting households in our council, most households can only sustain themselves for 3–7 days without access to additional supplies. Being prepared is part of living the Scout motto.

Share Your Impact

We’d love to see your unit in action! Share photos and stories from your Scouting for Food efforts on social media using hashtags like:
