On-Demand Continuing Education

Omaha AHEC partners annually with the Grace Abbott Training and Supervision Academy in the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

You may recall our numerous trainings on working with victims and survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence. This year, we presented a new topic, "Don't Feel the Burnout: Watering Morale, Retention, and Satisfaction in the Workplace."

This exceptional training is now available to view on YouTube. CEU information is available in the video's description.

During health literacy month, we urge you to put health literacy awareness into action! Together, we can build bridges between our organizations and the people who need health care or services. Greater health literacy helps us overcome barriers and challenges that may result in harm. By collectively working to improve health literacy, we’ll create a more equitable world where everyone can access high-quality care and achieve positive health outcomes.

November: American Diabetes Month

November is American Diabetes Month, a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes. This year’s focus is on taking action to prevent diabetes health problems.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It affects about 38 million Americans, including adults and youth. Diabetes can damage the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart, and it is linked to some types of cancer.

Diabetes is preventable and disproportionately affects racial and ethnic minority groups and people with lower socioeconomic status. Let's work together to prevent diabetes in our communities.

December 3: International Day of Persons With Disabilities

December 3, 2025 marks International Day of Persons With Disabilities, which aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society. May this day serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusion and accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Recognizing this day is crucial in challenging stereotypes, dismantling stigma, and promoting equal opportunities. It is a call to action for everyone—regardless of their background—to engage in conversations about disability rights and support initiatives that empower those affected. By coming together to celebrate diversity and advocate for change, we can create a more inclusive world where everyone has the chance to thrive.
