Dear Friends,
To all the mothers in the JBS Viewing Family, my warmest good wishes for a wonderful and loving  Mother's Day .   You may not be physically with all your children and grandchildren who love you dearly, but I am sure their hearts are with you and overflowing with gratitude for all the kindness and caring and love you have gifted them for an entire lifetime!

Tomorrow night also begins Lag B'Omer, a day of happiness and family outings in memory of the day a plague came to an end which had taken the lives of 24,000 of Rabbi Avika's students.  For most observant Jews, it is the only day a wedding may take place between Passover and Shavuot - and therefore is a day associated with love.

In addition, this week marks the anniversary of the birth of the State of Israel on the English calendar - May 14, 1948.

Therefore, much of our special JBS programming is devoted to these three celebrations: Mother's Day, Law B'Omer and Israel Independence Day.

Highlights include:

This morning's programming devoted to Mother's Day, with special Talmud
lessons on Motherhood and Marriage with Rabbi Mordechai Becher
( Sunday 9am)

 - A special Mother's Day edition of L'Chayim dealing with traditional Shabbat
Prayer recited for in honor of wives, "Ayshet Chayil" (Sunday Noon)
 - A concert by Neshama Carlebach we are playing tonight in honor of
     mothers everywhere (Sunday 8pm)

      92nd Street Y (Sunday 8:30pm)
 - And in the JBS Jewish Film Festival see the delightful Mamadrama
     (Sunday  9pm)

 - Much of Monday's programming is devoted to Lag B'Omer with a special
concert by Avraham Fried (Monday 7:30pm)
 - Dr. Aaron Ben Zeev talks about the psychology of love in the Jewish
       tradition (Monday 9pm)

And to mark Israel Independence Day (May 14, 1948),
 - Yossi Ron tells the story of the Kfar Etzion, which was destroyed on
May  13, 1948 by Arab armies
- A StandWithUs Gala featuring Richard Kemp (Wednesday 8pm)
 - David Harris reflecting on the miraculous turn around in Jewish history
between May 8, 1948, the end of World War II in Europe, and
       May 14, 1948 (Wednesday 6:30pm)
 - A panel discussion of Israel's amazing Hi-Tech Industry (Thursday 8pm)
 - And Aryeh Lebovitz, who survived Auschwitz and a Death March to take
part in Israel's War of Independence (Thursday 9pm).

And if you're a fan of the hit Israeli television series Fauda, available on Netflix, as part of JBS's celebration of Israel this week I have an in-depth conversation with the co-creator and star of Fauda, Lior Raz - who discusses the way in which the lead character Doron is, in fact, Lior Raz when he served in an elite counter-intelligence unit of the IDF and whether people are right when they suggest the series is meant to show an equivalency between Palestinian and Israeli violence (Wednesday 9pm).

And much, much more - we hope you enjoy it all!
