Arts Updates, Interviews, Calendar, Calls for Artists and Volunteers, Auditions --- It's All Here in Arts Blast, Arts Blast on the Air, and on Facebook. | Supporting The Arts & Arts Councils Everywhere
Volume 4 No. 20 | June 10, 2022
Deciding to be cautious with the thunder booming overhead this afternoon, I shut down the computer for a while, but we're back in business now.
No matter what the calendar says, it feels like summer, so Arts Blast is now on its summer schedule, alternating with Arts Blast On the Calendar. As usual, there will be an extra Arts Blast thrown in from time to time.
This is On the Calendar week for Arts Blast. Basic text calendar entries are free and must be submitted in the designated format included here. Advertising, with links to a website or social media page, is available on a limited basis.
Some of us in Arts Blast Land got very lucky with the weather last week. Others have had a tougher time. Yesterday's power outages in Vero Beach reminded me to get my hurricane prep list tended to AND to make sure my 18V battery-operated necessities — flashlights, fans, lanterns, basic tools, extra batteries — are charged. I have a couple of auxiliary power packs, both electric and solar, I need to top off, so thanks, FP&L, for the reminder.
Second only to my Ryobi 18v flashlights and lantern on my favorites list is a collection of Ryobi fans. It didn't take long in last night's outages for a fan to make the difference between an unpleasant hour and a peaceful and cool bit of relaxation. One of the three fans is a hybrid, running on battery or electricity. I'm not pushing Ryobi, available at Home Depot; it's just the system I started with and have built on over the years. There are probably other brands that have the same options. I also have a Ryobi car charger in case I run through my charged-battery stash before the power's restored.
Yes, I was a Girl Scout and the daughter of a DIYer supreme!
