The Reimagined MOVE 2040 long-range metropolitan transportation plan (MTP) sets the vision and strategy for all regional transportation decision making for the next 20 years and has direct impacts on the local transportation system, which includes roads, bridges, bike paths, transit, etc.

Because of this, it is crucial that residents and community partners participate in the process of updating our current plan, which is due in July of 2020.

Interested in having one of our staff present at your community meeting or just want to chat a little more  about the  details?  Let us know!    Contact Tricia Thomas, WAMPO Communications Manager at  tricia.thomas@wampo.org  or call our main line at  316-779-1313.

ELECTRIC BUSES IN 2020

Last month Wichita Transit welcomed four brand new Proterra Catalyst Electric Buses  making Wichita the first city in Kansas to operate 100% electric, zero emission buses.

The new electric buses will provide a quiet, comfortable ride, and each overnight charge provides enough power to travel 150 miles. Evergy, the electric services company in Wichita, has partnered with Wichita Transit to provide lower electricity rates for overnight charging.

The new electric buses are scheduled to hit the streets in early 2020 along with seven battery-electric vehicles that will replace the aging Q-line trolleys.

AIR QUALITY UPDATE
skyscrapers_clouds.jpg

The 2019 ozone season was a very good one for the Wichita region. Ozone levels at the three monitors in the Wichita metro area ranged from 60-62 parts per billion, well under the federal limit of 70 parts per billion.

This is our fifth year in a row of good ozone levels.  These results will help keep us in attainment of federal air quality standards.  Check out the Air Quality Index Air Monitoring by visiting the following web-address.
