ENV prepares for CPP Giving Day 2020
|
CPP Giving Day
, the university's largest online fundraising campaign, will proceed as planned – and with a deeper sense of purpose as the impact of COVID-19 reverberates through the Bronco community. The two-day event runs April 22-23.
This year, the College of Environmental Design will use the campaign's public platform to bring visibility to the
ENV Emergency Assistance Program
, and the URP 50th Anniversary Endowed Scholarship. Both have received early boosts in the form of matching gifts: $2,000 from urban and regional planning faculty
Richard Willson
and
Steve Preston
for the emergency assistance program; and $1,500 from
Manuel Mu
ñ
oz
('09, urban and regional planning) for the endowed scholarship.

REGENERATIVE STUDIES
Lecturer
Cybele Lyle
is one of the subjects of a new
video series
by the Orange County Museum of Art that looks at the ways artists stay creative while under quarantine. (Her segment was listed in Thursday's
Los Angeles Times
virtual culture roundup
.)
In her Instagram video, Lyle reflected: "Using [a video of the moon shifting in and out of focus] felt full of new meaning about time different, being indoors and the fact that everything is constantly shifting."

Where have the humans gone? Most people are locked away to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, and the animals, well, they have been reveling in their newfound ability to move around freely and safely in our absence
.
Videos of animals
reclaiming our cities have been flooding social media. Back in February when I had originally written this article, I was advocating for more space for wildlife in urban settings. Little did I know that in the coming months, nature would no longer be asking for permission.

Alisande "Alie" Ivie
is the college's first ENV Career Specialist. Below, she shares advice on what students can still do to make themselves job- and career-ready in the current economic climate.
Be your own brand. Be uniquely you.
During this time, the job market has become increasingly competitive. As a job seeker, I encourage you to look for ways to stand out from the competition. One of the recommended ways to stand out is to create a personal brand, centered around being uniquely you.
Think of it as having a product that you are selling and that product is you, your skills, and what service you can provide the company. It is important to take ownership of yourself.
