collaborated with ASI, Inc. Art Program for "Art Student Spotlight: POV on CPP," a short-term exhibition of visual communication design student work from Spring and Fall 2019. The faculty group juried 54 submissions, selecting and awarding eight winners whose paintings and drawings will be displayed at the Bronco Art Gallery throughout March.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
The centerpiece of lecturer
Keiji Uesugi
's Spring 2021 special topics studio (LA 4782) is a 12-day trip to Japan during Spring Break – the peak of cherry blossom season – to study the country's cultural legacy and how East Asian arts, architecture and landscape have influenced environmental design across the globe.
Space is limited to 19 students. The itinerary includes visits to Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Hiroshima, Himeji, Kamakura and Tokyo. Estimated cost is $3,700 per student; the first deposit of $500 is due by Oct. 31, 2020.
Though offered by the Department of Landscape Architecture, the course is open to all majors. It fulfills the history class requirement for landscape architecture majors and elective requirements for non-majors.

Oswaldo Tapia
(
'04, architecture) is among 22 young professionals honored by the American Institute of Architects with the
2020 AIA Young Architects Award
. One of the most prestigious awards given to up-and-coming architects, it recognizes the leadership of individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession early in their careers.
Tapia is a project designer at LPA, Inc., where he primarily works on K-12 and higher-education campuses. He is also the 2020 vice present/president-elect of the AIA Orange County Board of Directors.
"Tapia’s influence can be seen in a new generation of educational facilities that operate more efficiently and directly address the fast-evolving needs of students and educators," according to an LPA

Nabyl Miller
(
'13, landscape architecture) has been promoted from senior associate landscape designer to studio design leader at San Diego-based McCullough Landscape Architecture, Inc.
Miller's work reflects a diverse portfolio of projects, from mixed-use and residential development to office campuses and retrofits, to commercial centers in the United States, Mexico, China and Indonesia.
Desirey Wester
