Update to the Stretch Energy Code and the Specialized Municipal Opt-in Energy Code
On Friday, June 24, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) released draft code language for its Update to the Stretch Energy Code and the Specialized Municipal Opt-in Energy Code:
The public comment period will be open until 5:00 p.m. EST on August 12. The HBRAMA will submit written comments to the department on the draft codes.
In response to the HBRAMA’s suggestion, the DOER has convened a technical advisory group to review technical regulatory code language and provide ongoing support for reviewing any technical amendments to the code language in an advisory role to the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources. HBRAMA member Michael Browne of Advanced Building Analysis, LLC of Amesbury has been appointed to the advisory committee.
The DOER will provide an overview of the code language and responses to frequently asked questions during a recorded webinar on July 7 at 3:30 p.m. EST. Register in advance for the webinar here.
The DOER will also hold three public hearings to take comments on the draft regulations. More information can be found here. Members of the HBRAMA are encouraged to attend and testify at these hearings.
The HBRAMA continues to work closely with the DOER, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, and the Baker-Polito Administration to represent the interests of home builders throughout this regulatory process.
