#WildcatWelcome Now in Session!

Bishop State's Wildcat Welcome: New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions are now underway! Student Services has completed the first two sessions with three more scheduled this summer.

Our new student orientations are catered to first-time freshmen to help them tie up any loose ends they may have before the start of a new semester. Students have the opportunity to submit documentation to admissions, meet with financial aid, register for classes with our advising team, take the placement test, and meet their academic advisor - the person who will be supporting them on their academic journey while at Bishop State.

#WildcatWelcome is a great opportunity to help students get acclimated with Bishop State before the semester begins.

The next #BishopStateNSO will be Wednesday, July 10th at 2 p.m. If you or someone you know would like to join us, email Amanda Owens at aowens@bishop.edu.

Workforce Development Opportunities

Bishop State's Lineworker Training Program is an educational partnership designed for students to gain entry-level employment in Alabama's utility industry,

"There's a lot of beneficial things that happen through the program that would have helped us even if we wouldn't have been offered a job through the power company or a contractor," says Bishop State lineworker graduate Chandler Darnell. "You would've had your Class A and you could've went on to go drive a truck. So you basically got a two-for-one out of the program."

Watch the video above to see the 26 electric utility companies and contractors that hire from the pool of graduates statewide and to learn the additional credentials and certifications earned through this program.
