Bishop State has been named the 2023 Innovator of the Year by the Mobile Chamber’s Economic Development Department! This award is presented to a business committed to innovation and dedicated to positively impacting Mobile‘s economic growth.
2023 Innovator of the Year was certainly not on our 2023 Bingo card but we are so honored it was added to - and crossed off - the list! 💚💛

Bishop State Community College was honored as Corporate Member of the Year by the Mobile Area Black Chamber of Commerce! President Olivier Charles accepted the award, surrounded by a dedicated team of Bishop State staff. We are proud of this recognition, as it reflects our commitment to excellence in higher education.

Mr. Bishop State, Jonah Williams, and Miss Bishop State, Kadeidra Henderson were crowned on December 13, 2023, surrounded by friends and family. We look forward to seeing these students continue to serve in their roles as ambassadors of Bishop State and representatives of the Bishop State student body.

for earning the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Scholarship!
Seventy (70) $4,000 scholarships were awarded statewide to residents interested in attending one of Alabama's community colleges to train for careers in the state’s automotive manufacturing industry.
Students who were awarded the scholarship may use the funds for their spring, summer, or fall 2024 tuition, books, and fees associated with the approved program of study. Way to go!

Welcome Back, Bishop State Choir! | |

Faculty and staff were blessed to hear and witness the return of The Bishop State Community College Choir under the direction of music instructor Mr. Willie Williams. During the December Professional Development, the choir sang a selection of songs including the Bishop State alma mater and several holiday songs. The finale included members of the Bishop State faculty and staff joining the group to sing "Total Praise".
We look forward to hearing the choir more this spring!

Dr. Khalilah Burton did her first radio interview as Vice President for Instructional Services with 251 NOW with Kelly Finley. It was the show's last interview of 2023, but Dr. Burton kept listeners on their toes with her wealth of knowledge, her vision of Bishop State and where the institution is going, and the interesting story of how she changed career paths from being a dentist to an educator. December Professional Development
The December 2023 semester came to a close with a holiday professional development. It was an opportunity for Bishop State faculty and staff to gather one more time before the end of the year to celebrate our accomplishments, set goals for the new year, and fellowship with one another in a light-hearted manner. Lip Sync Battle Recap
We brought back the Lip Sync Battle competition for a second year in a row and the acts this year did not disappoint!
We remained in our Olympic Teams and each team did a fantastic job, but the BLUE TEAM took top honors and won with its Barbie theme!
Congratulations BLUE TEAM! But the competition is not over yet!
