Women's and men's basketball teams head to the playoffs

Bishop State's women's and men's basketball teams are heading to the ACCC Basketball Championships March 7-9, at the University of Alabama-Huntsville in Huntsville, Ala. The women finished the Division I regular season in third place and the men came out on top in Division I at first place, a first in school history.


You can catch our teams in action beginning Thursday, March 7 at Noon when the women take on #6 Coastal-South. The men will hit the court for their first game of the tournament on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m.


The championship game will be Saturday, March 9. Women play at 1 p.m. and men play about 45 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.


For the first time, Alabama Public Television will stream the ACCC Division I women’s and men’s basketball championship games on Saturday, March 9, beginning at 1 p.m.


Game scores will also be updated regularly on the ACCC website and at https://twitter.com/acccathletics. All games will be streamed live by JockJive at the following link: https://www.jockjive.com/acccsports.html

Hitting the road for the Wildcat Roadtrip

We are reaching the halfway point of this semester, but we are not slowing down. This month, the Wildcat Roadtrip makes its return as Bishop State is currently slated to visit 11 high schools, more than double the number of high schools visited last year!


Kicking off the journey is Alma Bryant High School on March 15th. Our dedicated teams in Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, and Marketing as well as our faculty and staff stand poised to support these students, addressing any obstacles they may encounter in their college application journey!

In the News

Students share experience following trip to Disney World through Disney on the Yard

Bishop State students were awarded a trip to Disney World after winning the nationwide Disney on the Yard Innovation Challenge. The competition allowed students at a participating HBCU to showcase their skills and talents to Disney by submitting team projects in response to a Disney project challenge. Our students won, beating colleges and universities from across the nation! Along with a trip to Disney World, they each won a $4,000 scholarship and a $10,000 grant for the college! Congratulations!

Men's basketball finish undefeated at home

The Bishop State Wildcats men’s basketball team wrapped up an undefeated 15-0 record at home. Now 25-5 in the regular season, the men are preparing for the championship tournament this weekend in Huntsville.

Coach Eager talks legacy after record-breaking season

Bishop State men's basketball team made history this season by being undefeated at home, undefeated in conference play, and becoming ACCC Athletics Division 1 Champs for the first time in school history. This week they prepare to bring home a championship.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Day


For National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, our Student Services department hosted an awareness event with several of our community partners.

Students received free HIV and STI testing, educational materials, door prizes, goodies, snacks, and free food.
