Students Win $7,000 IMPACT Grant to
Fight Food Insecurity
| Bishop State’s student-led Food Security Initiative is one of only three projects selected nationwide to receive a $7,000 IMPACT Grant. This marks the first time the same institution has earned the honor twice! The grant helps student leaders pursue four key goals, including the expansion of the campus pantry, connecting students to resources, developing food literacy skills, and providing immediate relief to students. In addition, it catalyzed a partnership with Love All Pantry, where Bishop State volunteers now help prepare food boxes for over 750 Mobile families each week. |

A nursing student shared how this addition eased her worries about balancing school and caring for her newborn. GLAM (Girls Learning About Manufacturing) Camp is a free four-day camp designed to introduce rising 6th–8th grade girls to the world of modern manufacturing and STEM careers in a fun, engaging, and hands-on environment. They engaged with activities from Austal, AM/NS Calvert, Airbus Flight Works, and Evonik.

JROTC Campus Tour
For the third year in a row, Bishop State welcomed the JROTC STEM Leadership Camp. This time the theme was “STEM on the Water” for the Maritime Industry. 150 students joined us for a hands-on tour of our Welding & Shipfitting area, where they observed students in the booths, oxyfuel cutting, and more.

We are honored to receive the inaugural HBCU Juneteenth Spirit Award from The Maynard 4 Foundation! The award was presented during the Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Brunch. This award celebrates the vital role HBCUs and HBCCs play in shaping future leaders and uplifting communities.

From campus to campus, exciting facility projects are underway across all Bishop State sites. These upgrades will enhance learning spaces, improve student experiences, and ensure our campuses continue to meet the needs of our growing Wildcat Family. These projects include, but are not limited to:
- Remodeling the Barbering facility at Carver Site (in design)
- New truck driving facility (in design)
- Preparation for the Southwest Site grand reopening
- New Bishop State site for rural healthcare education
