Whether you are a new student with a desire to ease into school with classes that last only 8 weeks or a current student looking to take extra classes so you can graduate faster, be sure to check out our list of courses being offered this mini-term!

The Propel Center has announced the launch of its Propel Student Impact Scholarships! The $10,000 merit-based scholarship will be awarded to rising HBCU sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Applications are due March 14, 2022.

Bishop State won the credit hour production category of the Chancellor's Challenge!
The Chancellor's Challenge was a creative attractive enrollment management-driven incentive for colleges within the Alabama Community College System to increase growth percentage from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021.

Chico McCollum, asst. truck driving instructor, makes front page of the Lagniappe!
Chico McCollum is a truck driving instructor at Bishop State by day. But by night and especially during the Mardi Gras season, Chico Drums, as he is known, is a beloved mohawked drummer who who is celebrating 30 years of parade performances this season!

Dr. Jeremy Daughtry is the new Dual Enrollment Instructional Specialist in the Instructional Department. He is a native of Lucedale, Mississippi but has lived in Mobile since 2005. He was last employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Dr. Daughtry earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology, a Master of Arts in English, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of South Alabama. His professional accomplishments include Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Distinguished College Administrator for 2021 and is a graduate of the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy (MCCLA) 2019-2020. His hobbies include working out, home improvements, and spending time with family and friends.

Marilyn Dosse is the new Student Affairs Coordinator in the Admissions Office. She is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and was last employed at Dominion Enterprise. Dosse earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Faulkner University. Her professional accomplishments include earning her Human Resources Degree and working on a CIS degree. Her hobbies include traveling, spending time with family, and shopping.
What excites Dosse most about working at Bishop State? "Helping students on their next life path."

Lillie Johnson is the temporary mathematics instructor in the Mathematics Department. She is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and was last employed at USA Health Systems. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in computer science from Alabama A&M University as well a Master's in Public Administration and an Education Specialist degree from Grand Canyon University. Her professional accomplishments include Advanced and Executive Leadership training completion from the University of Phoenix chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success. Her hobbies include traveling.

Tonikos Vandiber is the new Chief of Police. He is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and was last employed at Miles College. Vandiber earned his bachelor's and masters of science degrees in criminal justice from the University of Alabama. His professional accomplishments include completing the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training certification and the Alabama Law Enforcement Executive Certification. His hobbies include golf, fishing, hunting, traveling, reading, and watching sports.
