Bishop State's Phi Theta Kappa students are helping other students and the community improve and maintain their quality of life through sex education and other health-related resources. There will be a blood drive, blood pressure & diabetes checks, COVID-19 vaccines, a SILENT DISCO, a helicopter landing on campus with tours, food trucks, door prizes, gift cards, & so much more!!

These six young men have completed the construction courses in the Fix It program which included learning carpentry and electrical skills. They each have either already started working in their field or are working with Fix It organizers to be placed in the right job for them! What an awesome accomplishment!

Wildcat Week continues for the Men's and Women's Basketball teams! The Wildcats have scheduled open practice sessions and will host their second home game of the season this Thursday, November 4th. The women's game against Colin tips off at 5:30 p.m. while the men's game against Meridian starts at 7:30 p.m.

LaTanya Council is the new Records Specialist in the Office of Admissions and Records. She is a native of Jackson, Alabama, and was last employed at Bishop State. Council earned an Associate in Arts at Alabama Southern Community College and her Bachelor of Science at Liberty University. Her professional accomplishments include training with Cohort 2 Banner Student Team to implement Banner at Bishop State and train staff and faculty. She was praised for her ability to reach students and resolve issues. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, and reading.
"What excites me most about working at Bishop State is the ability to help guide students in the pursuit of reaching their educational goals,' says Council. "I think having a servant's heart is vital; so, it warms my heart to be of service for our students."

Devin Blackmarr is the new Administrative Assistant for the Health Sciences Department. She is a native of Tallahassee, Florida, and was last employed at the University of West Florida. Blackmarr earned an Associate in Arts at Tallahassee Community College, Bachelor of Art at the University of West Florida, M.Ed. in College Student Personnel Administration, and her Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction. Her professional accomplishments include being a Nautilus Excellence Award recipient and Staff Senate President. Her hobbies include attending Bishop State fast-pitch softball games, walking her dog, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
What excites Blackmarr most about working at Bishop State? "Meeting everyone across campus and being a part of the new Division of Health Sciences."

Dr. Steven Onukwuli is the new Help Desk Manager for the IT Sciences Department. He is a native of San Diego, California, and was last employed at Bishop State. Onukwuli earned a Bachelor of Art in Music - Vocal Performance from Stillman College, M.Ed Education in Higher Ed Student Affairs from Purdue Global University, and an Ed.D. Education - Leadership and Organizational Management - Higher Ed from Capella University. His professional accomplishments include being a board member of the HBCU Campaign Fund. His hobbies include traveling, writing, reading, and politics.
What excites Onukwuli most about working at Bishop State? "Growing with the institution, adding to the foundation and legacy of knowledge, understanding, achievement, and citizenship."
