Dear Friends,

The CBS Re-Entry Task Force met again this week and continued to make progress in planning for reopening Congregation Beth Shalom.

What We’ve Been Doing
Our emphasis thus far has been on issue identification, and we are now turning to solutions and decisions. To that end, we have established Working Groups to focus on specific areas. These Working Groups will develop recommendations in the following areas:

Communications
Physical Plant
Religious School
Medical Issues
Office Reopening
Building Entry, Seating and Exit
Legal
High Holy Days
Handling of Ritual Items

Some topics, like Food Service, have been deliberately deferred. Other topics will be added as they are identified.

If you have suggestions, questions or comments on any of these topics, please contact us by email at [email protected] .

What’s Next
  • The recent spike in positive testing has made clear that this pandemic is far from over. As we go forward, we will continue to closely monitor Covid developments in Pinellas County and nationwide.

  • We do not yet have a timetable for returning to services, but we do still plan to have our office staff return on July 6. We will publish protocols for contacts with the office in next week’s update.

  • We are starting to identify the expenses we may have related to the reopening. If you would like to make a donation to help defray expenses related to cleaning, signage and protective equipment, please see the "CBS Re-Opening Fund" button at the bottom of this email, on the CBS website or mail a check to the office with “Reopening Fund” on the memo line.

Thank you for your continued support.
