Season for Life
Life is a precious gift from God! Each year our Respect Life Ministry celebrates that gift from Mother's Day to Father's Day. Watch the eNews, bulletin and vestibules for opportunities to support and help raise awareness of partner agencies that create a culture of life.
This Sunday, you will find beautiful cards for Mothers Day in our church vestibules. The requested donation is just $5 per card, and proceeds will benefit Illinois Right to Life's Project Love. Pick up a card to honor all the moms and mother-like figures in your life!
Tanya worked as a caregiver for an elderly patient, but when she became 7 months pregnant, she could no longer continue her work. Because her work situation didn’t allow her paid maternity leave, Tanya was left without an income and many bills to pay. Tanya’s family lived in Africa so having a family member take her in wasn’t an option. Just before her baby was due, Tanya fell behind on paying her rent and was left with no money to buy food. With an empty fridge and bills piling up, she called Illinois Right to Life for help. Follow this link to continue reading Tanya's life-affirming story.

Annual Catholic Appeal
As we continue to journey through the Easter season, in this Sunday's Gospel from Luke, we hear about two disciples encountering Jesus on the road to Emmaus. Despite their initial doubts, Jesus reveals Himself to them through the scriptures and the breaking of bread.
Just as the disciples were on the road with Jesus, we too are
called to follow Him and share in His mission. Through our support of the Annual Catholic Appeal, we can help to continue the work of Jesus in our community and beyond.
Whether it's supporting our local parish and school, providing
assistance to those in need, or spreading the message of the Gospel, our donations to the Annual Catholic Appeal make a real difference in the lives of others. As we get ready to break bread with and continue On the Road with Jesus, let us remember the importance of giving back and serving others.
If you haven't already done so, please return the pledge envelope from the Cardinal's mailing, pick one up at church or use the button below to donate online. We thank you for your generosity!
| |
Remember that donations in excess of our Appeal Goal are returned to OLBS in the form of a rebate. This year, OLBS will direct rebate funds to install screens in the vestibule, add a video security system at QR and put glass lites in the church doors at SJE. Discover more. | |
