Danforth Center Announces New Principal Investigator


Kevin Cox, PhD, has joined the Danforth Center as an assistant member. “Kevin Cox adds a tremendous dimension to the research we do,” said President and CEO Jim Carrington, PhD. “His work will have relevance to increasing productivity of food crops and lowering the environmental impacts around agriculture.” Read more.

Seeking Dis-COVER-ies


Chris Topp, PhD, members of his lab, and colleagues at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have teamed up to explore the impact of cover crops on soil health and corn production. Their findings will help farmers better utilize cover crops and ultimately make agriculture more sustainable. Read more.

A Museum of Mutants


Corn with knotty leaves. Corn with bronze-colored stalks. Corn that grows like cucumbers. It’s all here at the Maize-10-Maze! This educational plot grew at our Field Research Site this summer and featured around 100 maize mutants, proving a unique way to discover how the corn of today came to be. Read more.
