November 7, 2021

Dear friends of NCC Theatre,

We are coming right up on our next production of The Burn, opening on Thursday, November 18 for a five-show run (Thursday - Saturday and Monday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.). The performances will be presented live in Lipkin Theatre; all audience members must be properly masked.

If you are familiar with The Crucible, this brings it into our modern era of social media, where the real life tensions escalate.

Let's start meeting our cast (and scroll down for audition info for our production of Sweat, coming in February).
Tatiana Torres - Mercedes
Tatiana is thrilled to play such a beautiful role in this powerful piece, and in front of a live audience again! This marks her second role with NCC Theatre after first appearing in Citizen: An American Lyric. Other credits include The Love Game ('Penelope'), A Midsummer Night's Dream ('Hippolyta'), Interlude to Sentimental Me ('Crystal'), The Fox on the Fairway ('Louise'), Kimberly Akimbo ('Debra'), and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike ('Cassandra').
Juanita-Renay Gray - Tara
Juanita-Renay is a 2020 graduate of Northampton Community College, where she earned a degree in theatre.

While at NCC she appeared in Dream Girls, Trojan Women, and Hair. A resident of Allentown, she writes, “Shout out to D.L.G. for being the B.E.S.T.!”
Olivia Byrne - Andi
Olivia is studying graphic design at NCC, and plans to graduate next year.

She has appeared in numerous NCC shows, including Ragtime, Buzzer, Hair, Merrily We Roll Along, Dream Girl, and Dada Woof Papa Hot. She lives in Whitehall, and sends a “shout to my lovely friends!!”

When a high school production of The Crucible forces four girls together, tensions escalate into acts of bullying - both online and IRL. The Burn explores the link among the Salem Witch hunts, McCarthyism and Cancel Culture.

Here we see what happens to a teacher and his students when a classroom conflict turns into an online witch hunt.

Andi: Olivia Byrne
Shauna: Tamara Decker
Mercedes: Tatiana Torres
Erik: Michael J. Sheridan
