OLLI Lecture: Health Issues in Older Adults
What does staying healthy as we age look like? In a free, public lecture on Wednesday, October 6, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Pacific Time, Steven Hersch, MD, the new administrator of Asante Ashland Community Hospital, will describe conditions commonly found in older adults and how to avoid or delay them, as well as how to make sense of the overwhelming amount of medical information out there. He will also provide an update on Asante’s Age Friendly Hospital Initiative. Evans Family Learning Commons at Campbell Center
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Evans Family, through the William G. and Ruth T. Evans Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation and sisters Peg and Barb Evans, OLLI at SOU successfully raised $500,000 in private donations to renovate Campbell Center. When in-person classes resume, OLLI members will enjoy high-tech classrooms with enhanced audio-visual capability, along with new furnishings and upgraded infrastructure to provide a comfortable facility for learning and social interaction. The Evans Family's lead gift for the project created important momentum and more than 40 percent of OLLI members joined the effort. The Evans sisters learned about the value and importance of philanthropy from their parents, who raised them with a strong sense of community and giving. The sisters have continued the family's tradition of giving, and all of us at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Southern Oregon University are grateful.

Peg Evans also donates her time and talents to OLLI as a very active volunteer. She chairs the Communications and Community Outreach Committee, teaches every term, and is a former member of the OLLI Council! Thank you, Peg.
