One Day to Give and Make a Lifetime of Impact.

From scholarship programs for Black youth, to parish-based programs and community outreach initiatives, your Giving Tuesday gift to the National Black Catholic Congress's Daniel Rudd Grant Fund makes stories like these possible.

Opening Doors to Catholic Education

This Giving Tuesday, Build Stronger Futures—and Stronger Schools

This Giving Tuesday, your gift to the the Daniel Rudd Grant Fund helps open doors for Black students to receive the blessing of a Catholic education—an opportunity that nurtures faith, leadership, and hope. Your generosity keeps classrooms filled, faith alive, and futures bright.

Faith in Action: Empowering Black Catholic Ministry

Building Stronger Parishes and Communities

This initiative funds diocesan and parish programs that reach out to Black Catholics through evangelization, leadership development, and community engagement. Your support helps foster belonging, faith formation, and vibrant worship in our parishes across the country.

A few of the parish and community-based programs that have received funding are:

The Lyke Foundation's Archbishop Lyke Conference is dedicated to celebrating, strengthening, and advancing Black Catholic worship, spirituality, and leadership within the Church. Through liturgical training, cultural expression, and faith formation, the conference promotes the rich heritage of African American Catholic tradition and equips ministers, musicians, and parish leaders to serve their communities with excellence and authenticity.

Participants at the Archbishop Lyke Conference enjoy the gathering’s closing Mass July 6, 2019, in National Harbor, Md. The five-day conference on African American Catholic worship and ministries drew 370 people from 32 dioceses across the country (CNS photo/Andrew Rozario, Catholic Standard).

Knights of Peter Claver Council 413 Collegiate Unit Activation Fund

The collegiate unit was established to increase representation of young Black Catholics within the broader Church. Beyond weekly Mass, it promotes ongoing faith formation by uniting young Black Catholic adults in service and leadership, requiring them to host initiatives that positively impact the Church and community.

Sacred Spaces, Safe Places

Capital Improvements for Health and Safety

From repairing church roofs to modernizing restrooms and ensuring accessibility, this initiative invests in the physical spaces where faith is lived. Your Giving Tuesday contribution helps restore, renew, and protect our parishes and schools—so every member of God’s family can gather safely and with dignity.

A few of the capital improvement projects:

Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Mobile, AL

Parish Center Kitchen Renovation

The parish completed a renovation of its aging kitchen, replacing a stove installed in 1970, an unsafe pilot-light system, a deteriorating sink, and adding a needed dishwasher to ensure proper sanitation. The project also included installing an icemaker to support safe food service during parish festivals, religious programs, and community outreach events. As a vital extension of parish life, the kitchen continued to prepare meals for funeral repasts, children in parish religious education, youth in Confirmation preparation, and the City-Wide Youth Group that serves young people from multiple Black Catholic parishes.

The DRF grant was used to purchase and install the icemaker (above) and replace the outdated stove. (Prince of Peace Facebook page)

St. Benedict Youth Center Roof Repair

This project sought to repair the compromised roof of the youth center at St. Benedict Catholic Church to ensure a safe space for students who rely on the facility for study, fellowship, and worship. An inspection revealed significant structural issues—including roof deflection, inadequate framing around the attic access, overloaded valley and girder beams, and failing truss support—caused by age, improper load distribution, and sustained stress on undersized wood members. Engineers recommended reconfiguring the attic opening, reinforcing trusses, replacing inadequate beams with properly sized LVLs, adding vertical bracing, and stabilizing the cricket framing. Comprehensive shoring and bracing were advised to secure the structure before repairs, ensuring the building can safely support the community it serves.

A few words from DRF Grant Recipients…

"You make it possible for us to change the lives of those we serve. What we do is impossible without you!"

Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School

"Thanks to you, Carroll remains a vibrant learning community, within reach for families of varied financial means, and enriched with a strong faith and service dimension."

Mark Savercool

Archbishop Carroll High School

The Daniel Rudd Fund grant paid part of the cost to erect a St. Joseph statue as a “moment of reconciliation” between two newly combined parishes of St. Joseph's and St. Paul's, and quotes Deacon J. T. Tucker on the concrete impact:

“The grant and money provided the nearly $5,500 needed to erect the statue, which is recognition of and a tribute to their (St. Joseph parishioners) faith, and that the dedication helped bring former parishioners together.”
