Families. They come in all sizes and makeups. Yet whether we live alone, or as a couple with no kids, or in a family of 12, the place we call home is the most powerful place on earth. More things are caught and taught in the home than anywhere else.

This Sunday, we have the privilege of being a part of two important passages in the life of families - baptism and confirmation. No matter our age or whether we have children in the house or not, our presence this Sunday is really important. These children and students need to see our support. They need to hear our affirmations. They need to know that beyond their immediate family there is a larger family praying for and blessing them.

This year, families are a major focus for us as the Crossroads community. This Sunday, I will be sharing an emerging vision to help all types of families turn their homes into powerful faith forming centers . Imagine your family modeling compassion, championing resilience, and practicing forgiveness. Imagine having practical resources that help you make that vision a reality.

All of this is what Sunday is about. It's important for our children and students to feel your support and hear your prayers. And it's important for you to see the hope of God's love that those being baptized and confirmed bring to all of us and the world.

In the mix of all the celebrations will be the final message to our series Fear-Less Hope-full. One the things we all fear if failure. Yet knowing that failure, seldom if ever gets the final word we will focus our attention on the path to being hope-full.

Here is a line from the message for this weekend - " the beauty of this path is there is way less fear of failure. Because now failure can be seen as a natural part of life, struggles and hardships and deep pain that we can learn from, but we are not held captive to."

Every day is a new day to learn from our "failures" and find hope for the future.

Right after our time of worship we will celebrate with cake in the fellowship hall. And we will also serve the residents of Heritage Hall by preparing a potted flower and a Valentine that families will be delivering to them. This will be a great family activity for sure. There is still time to sign up here .

Next week, families are invited to participate in a Love in Action Valentine Retreat. Check it out here.

Between now and then let's commit to praying for those being baptized and confirmed. The list of names is below.
