One Family's Journey to
The Boston Home

As many in our community know all too well, a progressive neurological disorder can strike in the prime of life. Individuals and their families must adapt and cope in ways that they never imagined. Each family's story is different, and each is incredibly compelling.

Christine DeLeo was kind enough to talk with us about her husband, Fred's, experience with multiple sclerosis and her family's journey to The Boston Home.

TBH Completes First Round of COVID-19 Vaccine

Pino, a resident of The Boston Home, receives his vaccination.
The Boston Home completed our first round of COVID-19 vaccine distribution on Saturday, January 23rd as residents and staff who participated in our first vaccination clinic on Saturday, January 2nd, received their second and final dose. The Pfizer-Biontech vaccine was administered by CVS Pharmacy. A second round of residents and staff received their first dose on the 23rd, and will receive their final dose on Saturday, February 13th. Included in this second round of vaccinations are members of our B.Fit!, day program which offers wellness, nutrition, and socialization to individuals who have advanced neurological disorders and live in the surrounding community. B.Fit! Program Coordinator Glory Wideman-Hughes hopes that vaccination will be a first-step to resuming on-site activities later this year for B.Fit! members, who have been staying connected virtually since the onset of the pandemic, "They are so ready to come back. They just can't wait!," shared Wideman-Hughes.

Christine Reilly, CEO of The Boston Home, expressed her appreciation for support received over the past year, and emphasized the importance of vaccination for long-term care facilities: "We are moved and strengthened by the love and kindness that we have been receiving every day throughout the pandemic. Vaccination is such a critical factor in controlling the spread of COVID-19. We are just so grateful to be able to provide the vaccine to our residents and staff. We still have along way to go in this marathon, but we are overjoyed to be taking this important step forward for our community."
