EPIC Search Feature
EPIC gives us access to a library of records about each patient for whom we care. When looking for something specific, however, it can be challenging to sift through all the notes to find exactly what we need.
EPIC has a handy search function, found in the upper right hand corner of the screen, that allows you to type a word or phrase to find any references to that in notes and documentation.
Need to see all the notes related to your patient's abscess history? Type in abscess. Have a patient with diarrhea and need to know if they ever had clostridium difficile? Type in cdiff.
Now that outside health system records are
intercalating with UCSF's in chart review, this search function also works for those!
