One Good Thing
Improving the Work Experience at UCSF

Issue 123
To make our True North "Our People" efforts more visible at UCSF, this communication provides a highlight of one enhancement, story or tip intended to improve the work experience for clinicians and faculty at UCSF Health.
New Physician Welcome Event

As the summer represents a large influx of new people into our organization, we'd like to welcome all who are new to UCSF Health.

Currently, on-boarding of new physicians is largely handled locally by Divisions and Departments. Different than for staff, trainees, fellows and advanced practice providers, attending physicians have not historically had a centralized new employee orientation or on-boarding program.

In seeking input on the work experience from our newest physicians via focus groups, we learned of the desire for better connection to our larger organization as you start your careers at UCSF.

To this end, one small step to meet this need is our first organization wide New Physician Welcome Event. The first event will be held via Zoom on Thursday August 13th, 4:30-6 PM. The intended audience includes new attending physicians practicing at UCSF Health starting in the past year. Please encourage those you know who fit this description to sign up using this registration link.

The event will feature discussion with UCSF leaders as well as a virtual meet and greet to connect with other new colleagues across departments.

We hope this event helps our new physicians to feel better connected to the people and our great organization of which you are now a part. This event is one piece of a larger effort to improve the work experience for those just starting their careers at UCSF Health.

If you have questions about the event, please email Ronika.prasad@ucsf.edu.

Thanks to Kosal Bo, Deborah Yano-Fong, Rachael Moore, Ronika Prasad, Kim Murphy and their teams who helped bring this event to life! Thanks also to those who participated in focus groups which inspired this event.
