SPONSOR Act
The SPONSOR Act, introduced in Congress, could hold nonprofits liable for how funds are used “downstream,” meaning by partners, subgrantees, or others beyond their direct control. This could increase compliance burdens, require closer oversight of partnerships, and push organizations to be more cautious, potentially weakening collaboration and collective advocacy efforts across the sector.
