Dear Shocker Families,

Can you believe that we are already past the midpoint of the semester?

Whether it’s your Shocker's first semester at Wichita State or their last, here are a few ways you can support them:

Be a coach rather than a problem-solver. Help your Shocker become a problem-solver by reminding them of campus resources that support every aspect of life at WSU — in and out of the classroom.

Discuss habits and learning rather than grades. At this point in the semester, forming good study habits matters more than a couple of assignments' grades.

Most importantly: Trust your gut. If your student needs extra support, contact the Care Team.

Upcoming Important Dates

NOVEMBER 1 - Last day to officially withdraw from a full-semester course with a "W"

NOVEMBER 14 - Tentative date for Spring early registration to begin.

NOVEMBER 23-27 - Thanksgiving Holiday

DECEMBER 8 - Last day of Classes.

DECEMBER 9 - Study Day

DECEMBER 10-15 - Final examinations

DECEMBER 18 - Fall Commencement

January 17 - First Day of Spring Classes

Campus Housing

Housing is actively accepting applications for 2023-2024, as well as Spring 2023 applications.

First priority deadline is December 1^st. Student who have completed their application for the next academic year by 11:59pm on this date will be sorted into the first week of room selection and will have optimal opportunities for available room types.

On campus housing for returning current students for the next year does fill up quickly, so it is better for students to make a plan sooner rather than later regarding their housing options to ensure that space is available on campus. Room selection for the next academic year will begin in mid-March. Remind students to be watching their email for more information.

Dining Options and Hours during Thanksgiving Break

Shocker Hall Dining: Closed all day November 23^rd through 5 PM on Sunday, November 27^th. It will be open from 5-10 PM on Sunday the 27^th.

Starbucks: Open Wednesday, November 23^rd from 8 AM – 4 PM and Saturday, November 26^th from 1 – 3 PM

Groundhouse: Open Wednesday, November 23^rd, Friday the 25^th – Sunday the 27^th from 10 AM – 1 PM and 5 – 7 PM

Panda & Chick-Fil-A: Open Wednesday, November 23^rd and Saturday, November 26^th from 11 AM – 1 PM

Breakfast Co & Freddy’s will be closed the 23^rd – the 27^th

All Dining Options will be closed on Thursday, November 24^th

Student Health Services

Student Health Services is providing a flu vaccine clinic for faculty/staff/current WSU students 10:30am - 12:30pm on Wednesday, November 2 in RSC 142 Harvest Room. Flu vaccines are $25.00 for WSU students. If you have health insurance, please bring a copy of your insurance card to receive any free immunization benefits you may have with your insurance plan.

Student Health Services also provides immunizations Monday through Friday 9am - 4pm in the Student Wellness Center.

Bring 2 nonperishable food items for donations to the Shocker Support Locker and receive a $5.00 discount!

Attention Graduating Seniors

Are you graduating in December? Now through Dec. 2 students can bundle their regalia items and save at the Shocker Store.

The Shocker store offers regalia bundles for bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctorate degrees. Visit the Rhatigan Student Center location or select the graduation tab at shockerstore.com for specific pricing and details.
