The Whole World!

It's World Mission Sunday!

There’s not much more Ordinary Time left as we arrive on

the 30th Sunday when Pope Francis beckons us to make a difference for the poor and forgotten across the globe. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith grew from the idea of one young woman to pray and make a small weekly donation to help the missions. Read about Pauline Jaricot and then please give on World Mission Sunday.

This week, our pastor reflects on our global belonging. He reminds us that whether we are the visitor or the visited, we are family - sisters and brothers of the same Loving Father. We are mystically connected - it's a powerful concept. Join his contemplation at From Fr. Chuck.

Tomorrow, Saturday, we offer two parish events and one celebrated worldwide.

  • It's not too late to make Milagros. Join us tomorrow – at 10 a.m. We’ll be in the Ministry Center (500 W. MLK) in Antioch. Bring your small hammer, $10 for adults and $5 for children, and go home having made new friends and something beautiful! Don’t wait to reserve your spot on the bus for our Mission pilgrimage on November 9. Read all about both events at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
  • Hospitality Minister Training will be offered Saturday, October 22 from 2 to 3:30 in the Church. We need you!
  • Tomorrow is the feast of a charismatic Pope who modeled advocacy for human rights. We invite you to reflect on this saint’s efforts in support of human rights and pray using words he left for us at Saints Gallery.

Want a great way to solve the problem of what to be for Halloween? Our St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference has a great source for costumes and so much more! They’d also like to thank their kind sponsors for giving to the Friends of the Poor Walk. There’s even a costume suggestion at JUSTNews.

We have invitations for engagement for you at Events.

  • EIM Training will be held on Tuesday, October 25 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. For details and other workshop dates, visit EIM.
  • Altar Server Training, with pizza, is set for Saturday, October 29 from 11 to 12:30 in the Church. Read more at Liturgy. Already trained? We could use your help at the altar – sign-up is easy at Ministry Sign-Up.
  • November 1, All Saints Day is a Holy Day! We’ll offer three Masses – two at 8 a.m., one in the Church and the second livestreamed from St. Austin’s School where our second graders will bring a Litany to life. There will be an evening Mass at 7 in the Church.
  • Light up the night at our parish school’s Speakeasy Soirée. Join the fun at the Otis Hotel November 5, 6 p.m.
  • Austin Catholic high schools are holding open houses for families interested in their programs. Look for information toward the bottom of the Events page.
  • You’re always welcome to join us for coffee & more after the 8:45 and 11:30 Sunday Masses and for a free simple supper after the 5:30.

Paulists from coast to coast offer opportunities to gather for events to nourish your spirit. Looking for the Spirit? Wherever there’s a Paulist, the Holy Spirit’s sure to be near.

  • Wednesdays, November 2, 9, and 16 – Fr. Chuck offers conversations about A Wound Full of Hope, a compilation of reflections by Pope Francis. Sessions will be on Zoom – read more at Events.
  • November 3 – 5 – Spend the weekend in an online conference, Hope – Heal – Renew, featuring Paulist Fathers Steven Bell and Ricky Manalo.
  • Thursday, November 10, 6 – 7:30 (Central) – The Catholic Information Center in Grand Rapids invites us to the 2022 Annual Gallagher Talk – Blindness, Fear, and Anger. How can our faith help us deal with these toxic feelings? Fr. Steven Bell will offer the antidote. Find more at Paulist Foundation.

Does your business invest in direct mailing? Consider our parish Guide Book. It’s a great buy. Contact Margaret Lee at (214)460-3542 or email [email protected] to place your ad before the opportunity’s gone! Two weeks left.

We’re hoping that in this phase of our capital campaign, every family will follow the example of generations before us. Their investments provided us with a place to pray, learn, and serve. Now it’s our turn – please give to Beacon of Hope.

Please pray for the safety of all at work on our development project and thank God for blessing our efforts. What’s happened lately? See fresh photos and the news at this week’s Construction Updates.

Thank you!

Your gifts fuel our mission.
