A rare opportunity for your adventurous clients: one exclusive trail, two UNESCO sites, and unmatched natural heritage

DESERT & DELTA SAFARIS EPIC ULTRA-TRAIL OVERVIEW

An extraordinary multi-day trail adventure connecting two UNESCO World Heritage Sites on foot: the Okavango Delta and Tsodilo Hills. This is one of the only places in the world where such a journey is possible. We've partnered with specialist ultra-trail race experts to create an epic route covering just under 100km through some of Botswana's most diverse and stunning landscapes. From the lush channels of the Okavango Panhandle through remote fishing communities, across harsh Kalahari scrubland alongside ancient megascale parallel dunes, culminating beneath the sacred “mountains of the gods” at Tsodilo Hills.

This is not a race; it's an adventure together. A small, intimate challenge designed for groups of like-minded friends who want to experience Botswana's wilderness in the most authentic and immersive way possible. Along the route, guests engage with local communities, paddle traditional mokoros through floodwaters, learn about vegetation and wildlife, and connect deeply with this remarkable landscape.

PLANNING, PREPARATION & POST TRAIL SAFARI

PLANNING

Private Groups: The package can be tailormade for a private running adventure or even a group of travelers that would like to plan their trip in Botswana with a 3-day hiking experience. The routes would work so well for a small group who wanted to get out on foot for a few days and see the land, communities, culture and varied landscapes.

Private Group Dates: Year-round, subject to availability (min 4, max 16 participants).

Trail Difficulty: Moderate to challenging for fit individuals with trail running / hiking experience.

Climate: Hot and dry (can reach 35°C+ during the day).

Group Philosophy: This is an adventure together, not a competitive race.

PREPARATION

Pre-Trail Acclimatization Highly Recommended: We strongly recommend guests arriving 2-3 days before the trail begins. At over 900m above sea level with hot, dry conditions year-round, acclimatization significantly enhances experience and performance.

Recommended Pre-Trail Package: 2 nights at Sedia Hotel, Maun, known as the gateway town to the Okavango Delta. This time allows travel recovery and adjustment to the altitude and climate; Guests can enjoy shakeout runs on routes hosted by the local running community; Visit local breweries, gin distilleries, markets and restaurants; Meet fellow participants and build excitement for the adventure ahead.

Essential Personal Equipment: Hydration pack or running vest with water capacity; Trail running shoes (broken in); Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, high SPF sunscreen); Personal medications and any specific nutrition requirements; Head torch for early starts; Running gear suitable for hot conditions; Optional trekking poles for support. Detailed kit list provided upon booking.
