You may miss a plane, a train or even your lover. But you may not miss one of higher education's chief events of this year, the 20th Anniversary Conference of ACA. Taking place from 9 to 11 June in lovely springtime The Hague, this event co-organised by ACA and the Nuffic will revisit two of ACA's core themes: international mobility and internationalisation. International mobility and internationalisation. Where do we stand, where are we heading? will look back at past trends and illuminate future developments in international higher education.
Important sub-themes of the conference will be 'internationalisation and interculturality at home', transnational education, the myths and mantras on student mobility, mobility 'windows' and mobility 'appetizers', as well as, importantly, the ethics of internationalisation (if any). We will also learn what higher education should (but so far fails to) do to prevent the further disintegration of Europe. As usual at ACA events, the rationale for the selection of speakers at this conference was simple: only the best. The vast majority of speakers have been confirmed and together, they represent a crme de la crme of international higher education.
The conference will consist of a mix of plenary sessions and parallel workshops. In comparison with earlier ACA conferences, the share of workshops has been increased, which will enhance and encourage pro-active involvement of participants. The 2-day event will be preceded by an opening reception and a social programme on 9 June, to welcome participants and to allow them to meet and discuss with friends, colleagues and partners. As usual, there will be ample opportunities for networking. To get an idea who you can meet in The Hague, have a look at the registration list.
