BDOG Is Less Than a Month Away!
|
|
BDOG is an annual 24-hour community-wide movement that unites the region's nonprofit sector to help raise unrestricted funds for the organizations that strengthen the Sacramento region.
We hope you’ll support us to benefit our region’s shelter dogs who really need us! We have a sizable funding gap to fill to maintain our life-saving programs for shelter dogs (behavioral, playgroups, Dog Day Out, fostering, adoption counseling and matching), so we truly need everyone’s support to keep us going through the summer!
The dogs depend on us; we depend on you!
Today is the first day you can create your own fundraising pages to support SSPA’s campaign! All it takes are 5 simple steps:
- Visit Sacramento Shelter Pets Alive’s BDOG profile.
- Click on the Fundraise button
- Create or log in to your donor GivingEdge profile
- Fill out and submit a simple form
- Please share widely.
We can’t thank you enough for your passion for helping our region’s beloved shelter pups, who need all the help they can get!

Amazing Volunteers Keep Making Dogs' Days!
|
|
Our amazing Dog Day Out volunteers continue to make a huge impact on Stockton shelter dogs' lives!
When they're stuck at a shelter, a day out with a volunteer can make all the difference in keeping a dog from becoming kennel stressed!
Marco, at top, and Layla, who are both looking for fosters, were among the pups whom volunteers checked out from the shelter for a day of fun and relaxation! Thank you, Gretchen, Lori and Que'Shira!
Through our newly restored program, you can check out a shelter dog for a day for a hike, walk, cuddles and/or a puppacino. You get a day with an awesome dog and you bring them more happiness than we can describe! Plus your photos and descriptions of them help attract adopters!
Want to join in the fun and make a difference in Stockton shelter dogs' lives? Sign up for a Sunday, Wednesday or Friday shift!

Puppy Woody found his forever home!
It turns out, his foster family just couldn't let him go!
His foster family-turned-forever family said:
"Woody is officially part of the pack. He joins sister Jessie ('Toy Story'-inspired names and she’s an SSPA dog) and fellow SSPA alums Abigail and Gronkowski. He also joins Bradshaw alum Hope, who is 11 this year!"
Congratulations Woody! It sounds like your life is going to be full of love and fun!

Pepper recently found her forever home and she's living it up in Oakland!
Adopter Patrick gave us an immediate update when this senior girl got home:
"Pepper is home safe in Oakland! Thank you so much for everything you do!"
Thank you for giving this sweet girl a loving home!

These five super-adorable Stockton pups are among those who found their homes recently!
Clockwise from top left: Spot, Bean, Logan, Marla and Pablo all found homes of their very own.
A huge congratulations to all of these lucky pups and their adopters!

We Really Need Fosters!
Most of these dogs are also available for adoption.
|
|
Hero
This stunning boy is looking for an experienced medical foster who will help him develop confidence and overcome fear.
He's undergoing FHO (hip surgery) - thanks to your generous donations - and would do best in a home without children.
He has done fine with well-matched gentle and dainty dogs in playgroups.
|
|
Layla
This beyond-adorable girl has masses in her belly and deserves a comfy place to relax until she has her next surgery to remove them.
She’s truly a delight, gorgeous as can be, great in the car - just a gem!
Dog Day Out volunteer Lori recently said of her:
"I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Layla yesterday. What a doll! She rides very well in the car - calm and quiet, looked out the windows, settled in and laid down when we were out of stop-and-go, didn't try to drive 😉. She is easy on leash - I let her lead the sniffy walk down by the marina and she explored her surroundings like a pro. We found a local park and she did the same until we settled under a tree to just chill and enjoy the nice weather. She settled in bootie first, backing her little self right up next to me, or on me and watched all the goings on. Three hours went by way too fast! Thank you for the opportunity to spend time with this sweet girl!"

|
Marco
One look into those heart-melting eyes and you'll want to bring this boy into your home!
Marco has been through so much, but isn’t holding any grudges with people.
He is unbelievably sweet, super soft and gentle, and adores people!
He’d prefer to be your only pup - but nothing will be more rewarding than to show this boy the good life!
On a recent Dog Day Out, volunteer Gretchen said:
"Marco did so well! He did great - didn't pull on the leash at all and stayed near me the whole time. We walked around the Brookside neighborhood and park area."
|
|
Trife
This gorgeous boy is always donning a tuxedo!
He's incredibly stressed at the shelter as he's a social boy who loves other pups!
He does well with gentle and dainty pups or soft rough and rowdy pups in playgroups!
More than anything, he'd love to be part of a family away from the stresses of shelter kennel life!
|
|
Roxy
Look at this cutie patootie senior girl!
Roxy is so ready to get out of the shelter!
She bonds strongly with her handler and loves being around you.
She’d do best as the only pup in the home, but will give you all the love you need! She’d also do best without young children.
She reportedly did amazingly on her dog day out!
|
|
Merle
This adorable 3-year-old boy (look at those ears‼️) is looking for a patient and understanding foster or adopter to help him learn to trust and build confidence.
He’ll need his new folks to take it slowly and really work with him at his pace.
With the right home, he should start to show his personality and come out of his shell!
He could be in a home with a well-matched female dog who is more into coexisting than playing.

Dixie
This cattle dog mix with the incredible ears is chilling out in her wonderful foster home.
What would make her even happier?
A forever home in which she'd be the family's one and only pup.
|
|
Salt & Pepper
Adorable bonded puppies alert!
This duo - potentially Corgi/Staffy mixes - are joined at the hip and so much fun!
They are cute as a button, are social and sweet!
More than anything, they'd like a loving forever home where they can grow up together!
|
|
Zach
This wonderful senior boy is super sweet and so deserving of a loving forever home!
He has participated in playgroups with gentle and dainty females.
More than anything, he just wants to be with people.
He's medium to lower energy!
|
|
Princess
This little one is finally safe in foster after living on the streets for a while.
She's very sweet and is OK with other dogs.
She's looking for a special adopter who will continue to help her build confidence and work on her fear issues. Her person will need to be patient as she takes some time to acclimate to new people and handling.
A quiet home without young children would be best for her.
|
|
Eli
This boy would love nothing more than to be a family’s beloved pet!
He has those head tilts down and has a perfect white stripe down his face!
He’s sweet, LOVES to play with the dogs in his foster home, and becomes your shadow once you’ve gained his trust. He also enjoys long walks and hikes.
Eli is hoping to find a forever home soon with a confident female dog and a loving, supportive family who will help him continue to come out of his shell! There’s not much more rewarding than that!
|
|
Homer
This handsome dude is a volunteer favorite!
He takes a little time to warm up to people, so he’s looking for a patient and understanding family.
He could be paired with a well-matched female dog in his new home.
Once you gain his trust, he does zoomies and flops over for belly rubs!
