One year later: Jennifer Cahill Shadle remains missing
(FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, PA)--Jennifer Cahill Shadle last
had contact with her family one year ago, on May 15, 2014, the Thursday following Penn State Commencement and Mother's Day. She was last seen on video walking alone from the N. Atherton Street Wal-Mart into the plaza toward the Dollar Store. She was carrying a black shoulder bag.
Shadle had called her family that afternoon and was to call them back later with a location to meet to pick up an item that was due in the mail that afternoon. She never called. Shadle does not have a car and police do not know if she left the plaza on foot or in a vehicle.
The only persons reported to police that Shadle had contact with prior to her disappearance, and who remain unknown, were a few Hispanic men with whom she shared refreshments at Champs Bar & Grill on May 2. Despite a public appeal to come forward, those men have not been identified. Although not suspects, it was hoped their conversation may have provided some insights into Shadle's plans.
The only mention that Shadle had made regarding her future
residential plans was that, although she wanted to move back into the family home in Ferguson Township, she was looking for an apartment downtown.
Shadle resided in the Saybrook area of Ferguson Township with her husband and children for several years before returning to Orwigsburg, Pa., in November 2013, to reside with her mother and stepfather. She returned to the State College area in April 2014, just before Mother's Day, and stayed in local motels and with friends when she returned.
Despite interviews with family and friends, posted missing person flyers, law enforcement bulletins and (missing person) entries into state and national law enforcement databases, as well as searches of the area, Shadle's whereabouts remain unknown. Her family reports there has been no activity on her debit card, health account or her cell phone.
