Federal E-Alert: Urgent Advocacy is Needed This Week

Congress is back in session and they are negotiating the next round of federal stimulus funding. We need your help to make workforce development a priority.

Our sector is facing a significant undertaking ahead as the workforce system is tasked with supporting well over 3 million New Yorkers as they strive to get back-to-work in an uncertain economy. That is nearly three times the number of people who needed our help during the Great Recession.

YOUR VOICE , as a constituent and workforce professional, has power. We are calling on you to reach out to Congress to request a $15 billion investment in workforce development, including funding programs authorized under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) that are designed to serve adults, dislocated workers and opportunity youth, as well as Wagner-Peyser, Adult Education and Family Literacy; and the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act as part of the next stimulus package.

Millions of New Yorkers and our employer community is counting on us. Let's make this happen .

By Monday, June 27th at 12:00PM we are asking that you:

SIGN YOUR ORGANIZATION ON to the STATEWIDE LETTER that NYATEP will send on behalf of the workforce system to New York's Congressional delegation. Ask your partners and business supporters to do so too!

EMAIL OR CALL your Congressional Rep and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand. Reach out to [email protected] if you need help finding contact information.

USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO SHARE! Use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and tag your local Representative and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand using #FundWorkforceRecovery as the hashtag. Let's make it trend!
