to Read from and Sign Their New Books at the Green Toad Bookstore on April 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- On Saturday, April 13, at 2 pm, the Green Toad Bookstore in Oneonta will present Oneonta poet Robert Bensen and Treadwell poet Bertha Rogers. They will read from and sign their new books, Before and Wild, Again at The Green Toad Bookstore, 198 Main Street, Oneonta. The event is free and open to the public.
         Robert Bensen has published six collections of poetry, including Two Dancers;

Orenoque, Wetumka; and Before. His work has earned an NEA poetry fellowship, the Robert Penn Warren Award, the Harvard Summer Poetry Prize, and Illinois Arts Council and NY State Council on the Arts awards. His scholarship in the Caribbean and Native America has produced essays, studies, and editions, won fellowships from the NEH and Newberry Library, and led to teaching in St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. He is Emeritus Professor of English at Hartwick College (1978-2017). He teaches at SUNY-Oneonta, leads tours at the Fenimore Art Museum, Cooperstown, and conducts a poetry workshop at Bright Hill Literary Center, Treadwell. 
          Bertha Rogers is a poet, visual artist, and educator. Her poems appear in literary journals, anthologies, and

poetry collections, among them  Wild, Again,  Heart Turned Back , and Sleeper, You Wake. Her translation of the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf was published in 2000, and her translation with illuminations of the Anglo-Saxon Riddle-Poems from the Exeter Book, Uncommon Creatures, was published in 2019. She has won writing and visual arts awards and residency fellowships to artist colonies, among them the MacDowell Colony and Hawthornden International Writers Retreat. In 1992, with her late husband, Ernest M. Fishman, she founded Bright Hill Press & Literary Center of the Catskills; she retired as executive director in 2017. She serves as Poet Laureate of Delaware County.
