Our nature reserve boasts over thirty different animal species consisting of plains game including kudu, giraffe, eland, oryx, hartebeest, zebra, impala and many more roam freely as well as predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard, being common residents of the area.

The latest addition to the already abundant wildlife at Onguma Game Reserve is a family of black rhinos. More than 300 bird species can also be viewed at Onguma Game Reserve. During the Namibian summer months the nature reserve becomes a bird-watcher's paradise with thousands of species migrating to the wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems.

Our Etosha Game drives take guests into the Etosha National Park in the mornings and afternoons and are guided by our expert guides and in our open-sided vehicles.

Etosha is a 8,783 m² wildlife sanctuary in Namibia - one of Africa's most stable and accessible countries. Etosha, meaning 'place of dry water', and refers to a flat calcrete depression (or pan) of about 1,900m². The 'Pan' (overlooked by the Onguma Reserve) provides a great, parched, silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages to an area of semi-arid savanna grassland and thorn scrub. The pan itself contains water only after very good rains and sometimes for only a few days each year, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae which lures thousands of flamingos.

There are close on 114 species of mammal in Etosha. They include the black-faced impala - there are no southern impala in the park - and the threatened black and white rhino. There are however no buffalo, hippo, crocodile or monkeys, but there is enough to keep you enthralled on a game drive.
Africa takes on a new perspective when you experience it on foot as the first explorers did. A bush walk is a unique physical, mental and spiritual adventure through nature. Experience the sights, smells and sounds of the Namibian bush by conducting an early morning leisurely walk accompanied by one of our experienced armed rangers.

Our interpretive walks will bring you closer to nature by exposing you to the intimate detail of our surroundings. It is a chance to exist for a period of time in the original, primitive atmosphere of the wilderness; to watch from a respectful distance the intimate lives of wild animals of the African bushveld.
Onguma's fabulous new water-level hide affords guests a great opportunity to calmly sit and enjoy nature unobserved. Amateur and professional photographers alike love the angles and light from this equipped hide.

There is a small ablution facility nearby, benches from which to view the surroundings and lots of windows and vantage points for creative camera angles.

Ever since my representation company started in the 1990's I have wanted to represent properties in Namibia. Namibia's stark beauty and dramatic landscapes evident in Sossusvlei and the Skeleton Coast, together with the game rich Etosha area make it a fabulous tourist destination. My first visit to Namibia was in the 1980's when I still lived in South Africa. I was fortunate enough to fly over this vast country and take in all the contrasting topographies. The sheer magnificence left me overwhelmed and totally in awe. Another visit was in celebration of a friends birthday and we hiked over sand dunes and went to bed under the stars and woke up to the glorious sunrise - not a wall or ceiling in site!

We are now excited to be sharing the new product in our portfolio and a lot more luxurious - Onguma!! Onguma, is on the Eastern boundary of Etosha National Park and a rich game viewing area. The lodging is luxurious and fits in well with a Namibian circuit. Emily has also done a Namibian circuit and can share her experiences with you. We are both excited to share this beautiful product with you!
