Don’t waste your valuable time standing in line at the Tag Office! With the closure of the South Tag Office and increased traffic at the main location, we're reminding all Saline County residents to take advantage of multiple convenient options to renew your tags without the hassle of waiting.
How to Pay Your Tags:
-
Renew Online: The quickest, easiest, and most convenient way to pay. Avoid the lines completely! *Some Tag Office business, like title work, must be performed in person (See options 2, 3, and 6!), so renew online and save your neighbors some time!
-
By Mail: Almost as quick and easy as renewing online, renewing by mail is also the cheapest! There is no additional fee for mailing renewals.
-
No Wait Inside Scheduler: If you must come in person, schedule an appointment online to guarantee your spot and skip the line.
-
Call for Assistance: Don’t have access to a computer? No problem. Call the Tag Office at 785.309.5865, and our staff will assist you in scheduling an appointment.
-
Drop Box: Drop off your paperwork in the secure drop box at the Tag Office, located at the City-County Building at 300 W. Ash, Room 210 in Salina, any time. (Pro Tip: The Salina Public Library is right next door and offers public access computers and low-cost printing.)
-
Walk-In and Wait: If all else fails, you are always welcome to walk in and renew your tags in person without an appointment, but for the sake of your time, please consider the other options first. (Pro Tip: Lines are the longest first thing in the morning and the last thing in the afternoon, on Fridays, and on the last business day of the month. For shorter wait times, try 10 am or 2 pm in the middle of the week and early in the month.)
Plan Ahead:
Renewal notices are mailed out 45 days prior to their due date. To avoid long lines, we strongly encourage residents to either utilize the No Wait Inside online scheduler or process their tag renewals and payments online. These options save time and help you avoid the rush at the end of the month.
Wait Until the End of the Month and Spend Your Day With Us:
Waiting until the end of the month is a guaranteed way to spend your day standing in a long line. Go early, go online, or skip the line! Take advantage of all the alternative options we offer to save time and avoid frustration.
Important Information about Staffing:
The Tag Office is fully staffed, but remember, our employees are doing more than just renewals. If you see empty chairs, that does not mean we are short-staffed. Our team members are handling multiple tasks beyond serving the customers in line, so if you see someone who isn’t assisting a customer directly, they are still doing their job. Verbal abuse of any kind is not tolerated and is never appropriate.
Feeling Frustrated? Call Your State Representative:
The tag renewal process is governed by state regulations. If you’re upset about the process, we encourage you to reach out to your state representative. Let them know how this affects you, and voice your concerns directly.
