ONLINE CLASS TRANSITION
March 25, 2020

Dear SEMCA Students, Instructors, and Employers:

Two weeks ago, SEMCA made the proactive decision to postpone classes out of concern for the welfare of our students and community. We have been monitoring the Coronavirus situation closely and have been brainstorming options to continue class momentum and complete the school year.

Due to rapid changes of COVID-19 transmission and prevention, SEMCA has decided to transition all classes online. Online instruction will meet Department of Labor requirements and qualifies for classroom hours.

The transition begins this week and instructors are working hard on creative ways to deliver curriculum virtually. This is new territory for SEMCA as classes will be meeting through video conference, phone, and email.

While we are proud to be able to continue student education safely, we recognize that this time has caused a great deal of concern for many. The past few days we have received calls regarding layoffs and economic uncertainty.

As you navigate changes in parts of your life, SEMCA hopes to be a guiding force in these unprecedented times. In addition to routine communication from staff and instructors, we will be using SEMCA’s social media platforms to stay in touch.
