Dear Oxbridge Community,
On Saturday, April 18, Gov. DeSantis recommended that all Florida public and private K-12 schools continue distance learning and keep school campuses closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Our top two priorities are keeping our community safe and healthy and ensuring our students receive a full year of academic studies. With these priorities in mind, we have decided to keep our campus closed for the remainder of our academic year and continue online learning until the regularly scheduled end of term on May 29.
We have been learning online for nearly five weeks, and I am exceptionally proud of the Oxbridge community for its perseverance, camaraderie, and kindness. Our students are engaged every day, logging in to classes, activities, advisory, fitness sessions, the math center and WRC, learning support, and even Chef Dan's cooking classes. I have seen immense creativity from the students and teachers, such as in the creation of sculptures made of raw materials delivered to students' homes, all guided through videoconferencing. There also is remarkable fellowship. Last night I attended an online debate tournament, in which, supported by teammates, an Oxbridge student delivered a stirring oral interpretation. These are just a few examples of the strength that Oxbridge has exhibited during this unprecedented time.
This school year, some standard year-end processes will need to be attended to in different ways. This week we will send out details of safe processes for retrieving items left on campus in lockers and returning school assets such as books and computers. To assist with scheduling and logistics, if you are currently located outside of the South Florida area, please email Ms. Lisa Toth at
