BREAKING GOOD NEWS!
New Books Available Today by the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr.

If you are looking for something new and something calming and uplifting to read, consider two new books with collections of scriptures, meditations and prayers by the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr.

Published today , Bits of Heaven: A Summer Companion and Finding Shelter: An Autumn Companion are now available in print and online editions from a number of bookstores and publishing houses. While Dr. Levenson, Rector of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, compiled the books to have a seasonal theme, the material is relevant year round.

Over the past several months, Church Publishing, Inc. worked with him to update the two volumes that were first published under the names Summer Times and Autumn Leaves . New photos, illustrations and some revised entries are included in the revised collections of scriptures, meditations and prayers. Nationally known authors and clergy have written glowing reviews for both books.

Jon Meacham, former Editor and Chief of Newsweek and Executive Editor and Executive Vice President of Random House, shared these thoughts after reading Bits of Heaven . “The traditional Anglican term for the days and weeks of summer is ‘Ordinary Time,’ but this small but potent book is anything but. It is an extraordinary gift to all of us from Russ Levenson, priest and pastor.”

Max Lucado, Senior Minister of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio and best-selling author, praised Finding Shelter . “Whenever Russ speaks or writes, I listen or read. He has the heart of a pastor and the skill of a poet. So grateful for him and his book.” Grammy Award Winner Amy Grant wrote, “This is a continuous gentle invitation to come to the table and to taste and see that God is good. Written with warmth and wisdom, these pages are good company on the journey of faith.”

A portion of the sales of all books goes to support Outreach Ministries at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

Later this year , A Path to Wholeness: A Lenten Companion , formerly Provoking Thoughts , will be updated along with a revised version of the advent companion , Preparing Room .

Readers may also enjoy Pearls of Wis dom by First Lady Barbara Bush. This new book is filled with reminiscences, stories and advice from those who knew her best. All author royalties from Pearls of Wisdom support the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

Another excellent book is Tracks of a Fellow Struggler: Living and Growing Through Grief by John R. Claypool with a foreword by Dr. Levenson.
