Upcoming Online Worship

For All Earth: Ministries of People and Planet
~ Rev. Karen Brammer, Guest Worship Leader

Much has been said about the tragic inequities common to both the pandemic and climate crisis. As a people of faith, we can also look at real possibilities and gifts inherent in both, and make decisions about how we live our values in recognition of tragedy and possibility.

Rev Karen Brammer has been a UU minister since 1998. She has also served as Manager of the Green Sanctuary Program since 2012 and is a member of UU Council of the International Initiative for Transformational Collaboration (INITC), an Indigenous-led process for people of diverse experiences and traditions to come together to learn more about what it means to be human together, and in relationship to Earth.

Make Them Hear You
~ Rev. Jef Gamblee, Guest Worship Leader

Prior to walking into an non-judicial execution, Coalhouse Walker, in the musical Ragtime, exhorts his friends to tell the story of the challenges of Black life in America. Our service includes a little Broadway, Dr. King quotes, and a challenge or two. Everything you want in a summer UU service.

Pastor Jef is a retired UU minister living in beautiful Westerville, OH, with his wife of 45 years, Pat Wallendjack. Prior to retiring to Ohio, they lived in New York City for 15 years. As a New Yorker, he served our congregation as intern and then as Minister In Residence during Rev. Huston’s sabbatical. In 2009 we ordained him and he promised to remain in communication with our congregation, which he has done. His retirement ministry includes UU Justice Ohio, Ohio Poor People’s Campaign, tending to grandsons, and serving as Chief of Staff for his cat, Bell.

The front door has been found left open several times. We are now forced to consider changing the lock. Please help us avoid this expense. Be sure to LOCK THE DOOR BEHIND YOU when you enter and check that the DOOR IS LOCKED still when you leave.

Remember, the CUUC building is currently closed and only those with permission and a key may enter. While in the building (1) keep the door locked; (2) wear a mask; and (3) wipe clean door handles and surfaces before you leave. Thank you!
The 8th Principle

At the request of the Board of Trustees, our Racial Justice/In the Spirit of Truth team will be leading CUUC on a journey toward a congregational vote in spring 2021 on the adoption of the “ 8th Principle,” which calls us to “...build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.” Read more HERE.
A Second Look

At our Sun Jul 26 worship, author and CUUC member Amy Nathan read her picture book A Ride to Remember, an inspiring, real story about the desegregation of an amusement park in Baltimore. If you missed it or would like to hear the story again, you will find a reading by co-author Sharon Langley HERE. Learn more about the activism behind the story at this podcast interview with the authors HERE. And in a WNYC radio interview HERE.
