If you have been sitting on the fence, now is the moment — only 5 days remain to take advantage of Early Bird pricing on your 2025-26 Caledonia Nordic membership. The deadline is Sunday, November 30, and we want every one of our members, families, and supporters to be part of this incredible season ahead.
Your membership is so much more than a pass. It is an investment in community, connection, and the year-round experience that makes Otway such a special place. It supports everything from our world-class grooming and snowmaking, to our youth programs, to the huge calendar of community events we host each year. It helps keep Nordic skiing accessible, welcoming, and thriving in Prince George.
And this year, we are giving back in a big way:
More prizes to win including Three 2026/27 Annual Memberships are up for grabs! (If we hit 2000 members again, I will make it five!)
Every registered member is automatically entered — and if you encourage a friend to join, they can list you as the person who inspired them, giving you an additional entry into the draw. Growing our membership grows our club, and we want to celebrate that.
Members are truly the heart of everything we do.
When you join, you support the trails you ski, the programs your kids love, the events you look forward to, and the community that makes this place feel like home.
Now is the time — let’s make this our strongest season yet.
Grab your membership, spread the word, and help us build the Caledonia community together.

We know that stretching every dollar counts, and we want to make joining the club as easy and affordable as possible. To help reduce processing costs, we are once again offering in-person payment options for anyone who prefers to pay by cash or cheque.
Aaron will be at the club all week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
(Note: Wednesday we will be out at the gravel pit splitting wood!).
I will also be on site November 29 and 30 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. (Come and see me, I got a new haircut and am trying to grow a beard again...it has NOT been successful).
NOTE: Compliment my haircut and/or beard and receive 5% savings!
Reminder, cash or cheque helps you save, and we are always happy to lend a hand.
Our members are what make this club so special. My goal — and truly our shared goal — is to keep Caledonia one of the strongest, most vibrant Nordic communities in the country. Your membership keeps that momentum going.
We cannot wait to welcome you back for another fantastic season on the trails.

Our Skills Development Program (SDP) is one of the heartbeats of our club — and this season, we are looking for 4–5 more coaches to help us deliver an amazing experience for our young skiers.
If you have ever thought about giving back, getting involved, or simply becoming more connected to the community, this is a fantastic opportunity. Coaching with SDP is fun, rewarding, and incredibly meaningful for the athletes and families who rely on the program every week.
To make coaching accessible, the club provides:
- All coach training at no cost
- Free program registration for one of your children
Training includes:
- Intro to Community Coaching (online)
- Community Coaching Course hosted at Caledonia Nordic December 5–7
Coaching Schedule
- Wednesday evenings: 6:00–7:30 PM
- Saturday mornings: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Even coaching one session per week makes a huge difference — though many coaches enjoy doing both!
High School Students Welcome
If you have a high school student (16+) in your household, this is a great chance for them to earn:
- Volunteer or leadership hours for graduation
- A reference letter to support future employment or post-secondary opportunities
Join Us:
If you are interested or would like more information, please email Belinda: programadmin@caledonianordic.com

Community in Action:
Athletes improving trails for all users!

On November 9, our community showed, once again, what makes Caledonia Nordic such a special place. Sixteen Junior Racers and more than twenty parents arrived with clippers, tools, and incredible enthusiasm to help prepare our trails for the season ahead.
Over the course of a couple of dedicated hours, this amazing crew:
- Trimmed branches
- Cleared rocks and debris
- Prepared key sections of our trail system
Thanks to their hard work, all the race trails, the dog trail, the Fingers, Rollercoaster, and the areas around the gravel pit are now ready for snow and skis. The morning wrapped up with well-earned hot chocolate for everyone.
A heartfelt thank you to all the athletes, parents, and coaches who came out — and a special thank-you to Bruce Bennett for organizing and leading this fantastic community initiative.
Your efforts make a real difference, and we are incredibly grateful.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to welcome back one of our most beloved events: Santa Ski!
Join us on Sunday, December 7th from 3:30–5:30 PM as Santa glides through the trails, greeting families, waving to excited kids, and adding a touch of North Pole magic to Otway.
After your ski, cozy up by the bonfire for S’mores and hot chocolate, and enjoy the warm, festive atmosphere.
Admission is by donation to the Food Bank, helping support local families this holiday season.
Children are invited to bring their letters for Santa to drop into our giant North Pole Mailbox, or they can create one at our Letter Writing Station inside the lodge. We’ll also have holiday crafts and activities to keep little elves entertained.
Bundle up, gather your family and friends, and come celebrate a joyful winter afternoon with us. We can’t wait to see you on the trails!

As we move into the winter season, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to every volunteer who contributes to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. Whether you help at events, support programs, assist with school groups, or pitch in around the facility, you are an essential part of our community, and we are grateful for everything you do.
We also want to ensure that everyone feels safe, confident, and supported in their volunteer role. While many volunteer tasks require nothing more than warm clothing and a willingness to help, some activities — particularly those involving machinery or power equipment — do require additional training and proper personal protective equipment.
To keep everyone safe, we have a Staff & Volunteer Safety Training and PPE Policy in place. This policy applies only to volunteers who are operating equipment such as chainsaws, brush saws, quads, snowmobiles, or side-by-sides. For the majority of our volunteers, these requirements will not apply to your role.
For those who are helping with trail work or equipment operation, the guidelines outline important expectations related to:
- Required PPE for specific tasks
- Training that must be completed before using machinery
- Safety procedures, inspections, and reporting expectations
- Emergency and check-in protocols
Safety Training and PPE
Our goal is simple: to keep every volunteer safe so that you can continue doing what you love and supporting the vibrant community that makes Otway such a special place.
Thank you again to all of our incredible volunteers — no matter your role, your contribution matters, and we are grateful for the time and care you bring to the club. If you ever have questions about safety, training, or where you fit within these guidelines, please reach out anytime.
We are looking forward to a safe, enjoyable, and community-filled season together.

It’s Here — Our new
Prinoth Husky X Has Arrived!

We are beyond excited to share incredible news: our brand-new 2024 Prinoth Husky X has officially arrived at Caledonia Nordic… and it is every bit as amazing as we hoped.
When the machine rolled off the trailer, our grooming team was absolutely buzzing — genuine, can’t-stop-smiling, kid-on-Christmas-morning energy. And honestly? This machine deserves it. It is a game changer.
A Huge Thank You to PRINOTH:
This acquisition would not have been possible without the outstanding support of Prinoth. Their team went above and beyond to help us bring this machine north, and their partnership throughout the purchase process has been exceptional.
Special Thanks to Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT)
We also extend a heartfelt thank-you to Northern Development Initiative Trust for their significant funding contribution toward this purchase. Their support plays a vital role in strengthening recreation infrastructure across our region, and it made this investment possible for our club. We are deeply grateful.
A Grooming Fleet We Can Be Proud Of:
With the arrival of the Husky X, our grooming fleet is now one of the strongest and most versatile in the country:
- BR 350 – Our powerhouse for pushing manmade snow
- PB 100-07 – Equipped with rubber tracks and a compact tiller bar (thank you Peter for this fantastic innovation) for early-season and low-snow grooming
- PB 100-14 – Delivering reliable, consistent grooming throughout the season
- NEW: 2024 Prinoth Husky X – Modern, efficient, powerful, and… let’s be honest… SO COOL
This lineup ensures we are ready for everything the season throws at us — from early-season snowmaking to major events, daily recreation, and everything in between.
A Win for Every Member:4
Investing in high-quality grooming equipment is one of the most important things we can do for our community. The Husky X will enhance:
- Daily skiing conditions
- Youth programs
- School group experiences
- Race preparation
- Early-season trail access
- Overall trail quality and consistency
Your skiing experience just got an upgrade.
Our Groomers Are Over the Moon:
Today was a special day. Seeing the pure excitement on the faces of our grooming crew — the people who take such pride in every kilometre of trail — was priceless (these are BIG moments for me and the team). This machine empowers them to do their best work, and that means better skiing for everyone.
Thank you to all our members, partners, donors and supporters who make investments like this possible.
Here’s to an incredible winter ahead — and to perfectly groomed corduroy as far as the eye can see.
Welcome to the Swift Fox!

A Heartfelt Thank-You to
Our Incredible Team

As we prepare for the season ahead, I want to take a moment to recognize something truly special: we have an absolutely amazing team at Caledonia Nordic. A team that works tirelessly, creatively, and passionately to provide the best possible experiences for our community. I am constantly inspired by the dedication, pride, care, and heart that each person brings to their role. Simply put — our team is AWESOME, and I could not be more grateful.
Despite the challenges that this early winter has thrown at us, every staff member and coach has stepped up in remarkable ways. Each of them plays a vital part in keeping this place running, welcoming, and thriving. Their commitment is what allows us to offer such incredible opportunities to families, athletes, students, and members across our community.
Behind the Scenes, Our Team Is Hard at Work
Aaron has been a steady force in the rental shop — getting equipment ready, organizing the lodge, helping on site, and welcoming new members daily. His work ensures the whole facility is prepared the moment the snow arrives.
Peter and the grooming/snowmaking team — Steve, Kaleb, Ed, and Stephanie — have been working tirelessly through the unpredictable weather, making snow, prepping trails, and getting every kilometre of our system ready for opening. Their dedication is unmatched.
Carolyn and her team have been busy booking school programs and organizing an incredible season of outdoor activity for students across Prince George. Her work opens doors for so many kids who may never have tried Nordic skiing without these opportunities.
Tuppy and Ali continue to support our athletes with energy, leadership, and care, helping them grow both on and off the snow.
Beth has been prepping for another fantastic year with our Track Attack athletes, ensuring these young skiers have fun, learn skills, and build confidence.
Sarah has been working hard with our Varsity group, helping guide our older athletes and preparing them for a strong season of training and competition.
Belinda has spent countless hours planning and organizing Skills Development Program sessions so our youngest skiers can learn, laugh, and fall in love with winter.
Nicole and her instructor team are preparing to welcome brand-new skiers with patience, skill, and positivity — ensuring everyone who comes to Otway feels supported and excited.
Lisa has been keeping our community connected, informed, and engaged through her incredible work on social media and the website. Her updates and storytelling bring our club to life.
No matter what the weather does, this team shows up. They work hard, they care deeply, and they set the tone for everything we do as a club. I am incredibly proud of them — and incredibly grateful.
Thank you, team, for everything you do. And thank you, members, for supporting us, believing in us, and being part of this remarkable community.
We are ready for an amazing season — and we cannot wait to share it with you.

As we continue expanding and improving our dog-friendly trail network, we want you — our incredible community — to be part of the fun. The newest section of dog trail is ready for snow… but it still needs a name!
We would love to hear your creative, meaningful, or downright fun name ideas. Whether it’s inspired by the Otway forest, your favourite four-legged friend, local culture, or something that just makes you smile, send it our way.
Please email your suggestions to:
tracksandtrails@caledonianordic.com
We cannot wait to see what our members come up with. Let’s name these trails together and continue building a space where every skier — and every dog — feels welcome.
Thank you for being part of this community!

"One Day at Otway Turned Into a
Whole Winter Together"

Our daughter came home from Carolyn’s school ski program last year absolutely glowing. She could not stop talking about how much fun she had, how kind the coaches were, and how she wanted us to come out and try skiing as a family. So we showed up for Winterfest — thinking it would be a one-off adventure.
Instead, it completely hooked us.
We had such an amazing time together that day that we ended up purchasing a full family membership from John and Isabel shortly after. And honestly? It paid for itself faster than we ever expected.
We were out skiing constantly — after school, on weekends, whenever we could squeeze it in. It became our family’s happy place last winter.
What we loved most was how welcoming the club felt. Our daughter already felt at home because of her school program, and that excitement spread to all of us. Carolyn even recognized her when we came back in MARCH. We cannot wait to bring the whole crew back this season.
Thank you for creating a community that makes it easy for families to fall in love with winter.
