It's EASY to Raise Donations Via Facebook

Last week we told you about some AWESOME fundraising ideas. (See below)

Some of you took us up on the Facebook fundraising tip and the results have been AMAZING!

One of our Team Captains/Walkers, Peggy Schiller, wrote us back and said:

"You are right about Facebook - in 2 days I made $570!!!!!"

Two days and she raised almost $600 for her Walk Team - Team Courage Honoring Kevin Schiller - by simply setting up her event on Facebook.

And as an added bonus - Facebook sends all the proceeds directly to us. All Peggy has to do now is add these donations to her team as an "offline" donation and watch her team total grow.

And Peggy isn't the only one! Many others have reported raising hundreds of dollars via Facebook.

If you haven't yet set up a Facebook fundraiser - what are you waiting for? Just follow the easy directions below and watch your generous friends donate to your Walk effort.

Our first Walk of the season is this Saturday, September 15th in Lansing at Hawk Island Park. Registration begins at 10 am and Walk at 11 am. There's still plenty of time to register, collect donations, and come on out and join the fun! (see all of our Walk 'n Roll for ALS dates below.)

And if you need any help, NEVER hesitate to give us a call at 800-882-5764. We are here for you.

If you haven't already signed up to Walk 'n Roll, do it today. Just click here to register!
Fundraise on Facebook
Do you spend time on Facebook? Do you have lots of Facebook friends? It's easy to put that to work for your Walk Team.

You can fundraise for Walk 'n Roll on Facebook just by following the simple instructions below.

Any donations raised on Facebook can be added to your team total as "offline" donations.

This is a great way to increase donations to your Walk effort and to reach a large group of people you are "friends" with all at once.

We already have several Walkers who have created a Facebook event for their Walk effort and raised hundreds of dollars from their FB friends.

HERE ARE THE EASY STEPS TO SET IT UP!

1. Click Fundraisers in the left menu of your News Feed. It's under "Explore" and you may have to click on "more" to find it.
2. Click Raise Money.
3. Select Nonprofit/Charity:
* Search for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis of Michigan and then select us as your charity
4. Choose a cover photo (make it meaningful about your Walk Team.) You can upload a photo from your computer. Or you can use the standard photo like the sample one here.
5.Fill in the fundraiser details. Tell your FB friends why you are Walking 'n Rolling for ALS. A little story about why this is important to you goes a long way.
6. Click Create.
7. Then tag all the people you want to invite to your fundraiser. The more the better!

Have any questions? Just contact Sue or Joanne at 248-354-6100 or email [email protected]
Send Out EMAILS/LETTERS
Whether you love using your computer and email or you still like Snail Mail - or you do both - contacting someone personally is one of the very best ways to get donations for your Walk effort and team.

Send those you know an email or a letter. Personalize your letter and tell them why you are Walking ' Rolling, who it is for, and why ALS of Michigan is so important to you.

We have samples in our Walker's Fundraising Guide ( Click her for the guide) that you can customize, or come up with your own.

Remember to include your personal link to your fundraising page in your email/letter! And if you are mailing out letters, include as self- addressed envelope for those who prefer to send a check.
HAVE A PARTY
What a wonderful time of year to have people over for a party! You can make it as simple as Pizza or a BBQ!

And while you have their attention - tell them about you Walk 'n Roll effort and ask for support! You can even put out some envelopes for people to take and donate.

One of our Walk teams once had a party, and every time someone needed to use the bathroom they charged them a fee that went to their Walk Team!

It's easy to be creative and have fun too!
NEVER GIVE UP BRACELETS & LOU GEHRIG BUCKS
Dollar bill - Gehrig
We have a supply of our NEVER GIVE UP BRACELETS and our LOU GEHRIG BUCKS!

These can be used in a variety of ways. You can ask for a small donation for a bracelet!
Lou Gehrig Bucks can be put out at a local business, and for a dollar customers can sign one and have it displayed on a wall.

Both are great ways to raise extra donations for your Walk 'n Roll Team.

Just contact Joanne or Kim at: 800-882-5764 or email [email protected] or [email protected] for your supply for your fundraising effort.
BAKED GOODS
Every year we ask our Walkers and Rollers to help out by bringing some delicious baked goods to share with all our Walkers.

And we are never disappointed!

So, if you love to bake - or if you prefer to buy - we appreciate any goodies you can bring to our Walks.

Just let Joanne know. You can email her at [email protected].

And we promise, we will not turn you away if you just show up with some!
YOUR TEAM T-SHIRT ORDERS &
TEAM COLLECTION ENVELOPE
Team Captains - it's time to start sending in your Team T-shirt orders.

This is "not" an exact science, but rather an estimate of how many and what sizes you need. Just fill in this order form and fax it to 248-354-6440, or email sizes you need to [email protected].

As always, a table of shirts will be available for extra shirts and size exchanges. But, ordering in advance saves time and lessens the crowds a the table.

We will have your shirts in a bag waiting for you at the Walk. The bag will also have your Team Collection Envelope attached. This envelope is where you put all of your "day of the Walk" donations you bring to or collect at the Walk.

Please remember to convert ALL CASH to a check! We really appreciate it.
