After a lengthy search, we are very happy to announce that Fair Oaks EcoHousing is officially moving forward with a construction loan from Torrey Pines Bank in San Diego, CA. A lot of hard work has been put in behind the scenes by our members and development consultant CoHousing Solutions to obtain this financing, and after celebrating, we can all let out a sigh of relief, and get to work on the final steps to satisfy the loan requirements and get our community under construction. Look for our Groundbreaking Announcement late summer/early fall of this year. 

On the first Saturday in June, 21 of our future cohousers gathered for an afternoon of socializing and skill-building at  Napoli Culinary Academy . We set out to learn how to make our own pizza, calzone, or stromboli.  

The class began with a lively demonstration from the academy’s head chef, Hassi Sadri. We learned the secrets of a good red sauce and white sauce, talked about ideal cooking temperature (hint: your kitchen oven doesn’t get hot enough), and several tried their hand at tossing the dough. Then we put on our aprons and made our own pizza/calzone/stromboli creations! Once they were out of the oven, we enjoyed a shared meal in good company. Everyone left with full stomachs and high spirits.  

Social events like this one are part of the fabric of our cohousing community! Fair Oaks EcoHousing members make regular plans to get together, have fun, and get to know each other.
