Lend Your Support to HCCI
|
During the holidays, we especially want to thank those who support HCCI’s mission to help create a future where…
…your homebound neighbor, who is losing their vision and mobility, can receive routine medical care in the comfort of their living room.
…a loving son, the primary caregiver for his aging mother, no longer must spend entire days sitting in waiting rooms, only for a simple visit to her primary care provider.
…you don’t have to make the choice between an expensive assisted living facility or a visit to the emergency room, because you can instead get the care you need right at your doorstep.
Then know that you don’t have to imagine it, because it’s becoming more of a reality every day. And you can play an important part right now in making it a reality for everyone who needs it by donating to HCCI. Read this year’s fundraising message from HCCI President Julie Sacks here.

HBPC Providers Are Silver Lining for Patients During Crisis
|
Mother Nature isn’t always a benevolent parent, delivering devastating earthquakes, killer storms, raging wildfires, and dangerous floods. Many brave souls respond to these natural crises—police, emergency workers, firefighters, and more. But we also need to add another role to this honorable list: home-based primary care providers.
Let’s meet a couple who didn’t let recent calamities keep them from their patients: Amie Peterson, a nurse practitioner, MSN, APRN-BC (pictured above left), with Millennium Physician Group on Florida’s Southwest coast, who continues to help patients through the effects of Hurricane Ian. And Greg Tisdale, MSN, FNP-C (pictured above right and spotlighted previously in HCCInsights), who operates On-Site Health in Flowood, a suburb of Jackson, Mississippi, and who is doing the same for his patients affected by flooding from a historic rainfall.

Callout for Your Stories: HCCI wants to share more stories from HBPC providers and practice staff who served during crises. To share yours, please email James Warda, Vice President of External Affairs and Business Development, at jwarda@hccinstitute.org.
HCCI Hosts House Call Workshops in San Diego, Dallas
|
HCCI recently held its final two workshops of 2022 in San Diego and Dallas. The Essential Elements of Home-Based Primary Care™ workshop in San Diego on Nov. 10-11 targeted home-based primary care (HBPC) newcomers and those looking to enhance their knowledge in both clinical care for homebound patients and house call operations. Then, the Advanced Applications of Home-Based Primary Care™ workshop, held in Dallas Dec. 1-2, addressed topics providers and practice staff need to know to expand their HBPC skills and succeed in value-based care. This included hands-on training in common HBPC procedures, including Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS).
”HCCI has been presenting workshops across the country since 2017, and with each offering, I grow more impressed and inspired by our learners,” said Melissa Singleton, Chief Learning Officer for HCCI. They are engaged, eager to improve both their quality of care and their operational efficiency, and they are committed to serving homebound patients. The professionals I met at our San Diego and Dallas workshops are ones to watch in this field!”
