Dear Collin,
The Fall 2024 Commonwealth Management Institute (CMI) is open for registration! Join us or consider sending members of your agency.
CMI is a valued avenue for professional development for managers in Virginia state government to increase their ability to effectively design, implement, and evaluate public programs and policies. CMI is about affecting positive change - in self, in others, and in your agency and promotes the exchange of information, the development of creative ideas, and cooperation and future collaboration among program participants.
The CMI program offers a variety of leadership workshops and assessments catered to the needs of managers throughout the Commonwealth.
360 Assessment: The 360-degree feedback assessment measures subjective workplace behaviors and competencies through feedback from the participant, their supervisor(s), and subordinates/colleagues.
-
CMI Participant: "Great information; I will definitely use the information provided in my 360 to further my personal growth. I also had a great coaching session."
DISC Assessment: The DISC assessment examines how an individual ranks in the four primary personality types and how this affects their leadership practices.
-
CMI Participant: "The advice was given in real-world dialogue, and great examples/techniques were presented for discussing my DISC results with my immediate supervisor."
Recruiting, Onboarding, and Retaining Happy Employees: Enhance recruitment and retention techniques through practical exercises and discussions.
-
CMI Participant: This was super helpful and collaborative! This is definitely something I can easily translate into my job and will help me in the future."
Do the Right Thing: Learn how to make ethical decisions as a leader based on integrity and compassion.
-
CMI Participant: "Paula's presentation was thought-provoking. I never took the opportunity to really review who I wanted to be as a leader or take a look at the Ethical Standards for my profession until her session."
Difficult Conversations: A "magical" session dedicated to understanding communication preferences and having challenging conversations.
-
CMI Participant: "One of the most engaging training sessions I've ever had! I feel that one of the hardest, if not the hardest, areas of what we do as supervisors and managers is having tough conversations with our employees."
This program provides an excellent opportunity for professional development and networking while offering CEUs and SHRM PDCs. Learn more here and apply by Friday, July 26th, 2024.
