Dear Team,

While the rapid spread of the Omicron variant is alarming, there is no reason for anxiety or fear. Our community has always pulled together during times like these. I am asking you to remember, there are ways to mitigate the spread of the virus. We must remain resolute in our health and safety practices, as well as follow recommendations from the CDC. I am asking that you redouble your efforts to stay safe by wearing a mask, receiving your vaccine or booster, washing your hands, practicing social distancing and avoiding crowded indoor spaces.

I would encourage you to get tested, if you are feeling poorly, to find out your status. That way, if you do test positive for COVID-19, you can isolate and not spread the virus to others. I know that due to high demand, wait times for testing are high. I am working to open onsite testing exclusively for Orange County Government employees and household family members. Human Resources will send out more information next week. I want to ensure that you have access to testing because the health and well-being of you and your family remain a top priority. I am deeply committed to ensuring our workplace is safe so that you can continue to provide excellent service to our community.

While we are on the topic of health, I wanted to let you know that enrollment for Thrive, a Diabetes Care Management program, is open now through January 31, 2022. This innovative program aims to help participants manage life with diabetes and thrive through a multi-disciplinary approach. For questions or more information, email wellness@ocfl.net.

Furthermore, not only is your physical health extremely important to me but so is your mental health. YOU matter! OC MindMatters focuses on building resilience, and most importantly, supporting each other through our individual journeys toward optimal mental health. If you have not explored the OC MindMatters resources yet, I encourage you to do so.

Please know how much I continue to appreciate all you do for our organization and our community.
