Our inhouse programs are back next week!
We are so excited to be welcoming you back to our programs. There are a few differences, of course. numbers are limited and bookings are required for all events. You can find all our events on our website at
unley.sa.gov.au/libraryevents
And here we are at the end of the school holidays - they went so quick! We had some great events during this time. Amelia quite happily showed off her Mexican Sope from the Scoffed Cooking School event to me (and then ate it). If you were after the flatbread and protein ball recipes,
we now have them on our blog.
Do you grow flowers in your garden? Would you like to share them with the community? We are starting a community vase scheme where you can display arrangements at Unley Civic Library for everyone to enjoy.
This week's Storytime, Babytime and Wriggletime are all below for your viewing pleasure.
See you in the Libraries...and at our events!

The Tree Canopy Project
Trees are not only beautiful, but they significantly cool the environment and protect us from summer heat. Horticulturist, Anne Wilson, will explain why we need to increase tree canopy in a warming climate. Sally Osterstock, an experienced fruit tree grower, will demonstrate how easy it is to propagate many types of fruit trees for your own garden.

Community Vase
A vase of flowers can do wonders to brighten up a space or someone's day. It makes a huge difference when our library staff bring their homegrown blooms to display in the library, so we thought we would open it up to our wider community. If you would like to share flowers from your garden, please bring them to the Unley Civic Library. We have a large glass vase and a few smaller ones to cater to various arrangements.
For further information, phone 8372 5100 or speak to our staff.

The Last Lighthouse Keeper
by John Cook with Jon Bauer
Evocatively told,
The Last Lighthouse Keeper is a love story between a man and a dying way of life, as well as a celebration of wilderness and solitude.
'I love the life of the island, because I knew my body was more alive than it was
on the mainland. People asked how we stood the isolation and boredom, but is some ways, it was more stimulating to have your senses turned up.'
In Tasmania, John Cook is known as 'The Keeper of the Flame’. As one of Australia’s longest-serving lighthouse keepers, John spent 26 years tending Tasmania’s well-known kerosene ‘lights’ at Tasman Island, Maatsuyker Island and Bruny Island.

If you are job searching, or just looking for new opportunities and to see what's out there, then having a LinkedIn profile is a great way to start!
LinkedIn is the social media of the business and networking world. It is where people can create profiles listing their past job history, experience, study and qualifications, and you can also privately let recruiters know you are looking for work.
LinkedIn has an excellent jobs section where recruiters and businesses post ads for available positions. You can also set-up alerts where LinkedIn can email you jobs that suit your interests as they become available.
Like other social media, LinkedIn enables you to connect with other people - like previous and current work colleagues, and other people working in your field, or the area you would like to work in. It is a useful way of connecting to contacts and building your professional networks. You can also find lots of interesting articles shared on LinkedIn.
