The Oneonta Thanksgiving Community Dinner will be preparing 800 meals to feed our neighbors on Thanksgiving Day, and is now seeking volunteers and monetary donations. Click on this flyer for details.
The Hunger Coalition is sponsoring a Warming Station Project at Main St. in Oneonta. They are open 7 days a week between 5:30 pm and 7:30 am- people can stop in and get shelter from the cold, get something to eat, and even stay overnight. ASTROLOGY FORCAST (Nov 17 - 24)
Early this coming Friday we have a partial Lunar Eclipse. It will show itself physically to us as a Salmon colored, or Blood Moon. The duration of this Eclipse is the longest in a 580-year span, which will add to its intensity. The time of visibility for the Eastern standard time zone is from 1 am to 7am. It will peak at 4am in the low western sky.
The alignment is the first of 7 Solar and Lunar Eclipses along the Taurus/Scorpio axis lasting the next 18 months. The themes will be the characteristics associated with both of these Zodiac signs. If there is any one thing that can be used to sum up the energies of this Eclipse, it is "leaving behind what no longer serves." Sound familiar? We have been asked to work on this for a while now.
The best of these endeavors will be able to benefit from Taurus's stable, Earth-bound creations that have the real intimacy, deep loving feelings, and the intensity of Scorpio. It is a time when there can conceivably be a magical exchange of your most difficult aspects for your Soul's greatest gifts.
This Eclipse may give you some challenges and discomfort. Stay with it as best you can. Use any and all calming and relaxation methods that work well for you. The natural slowing down of action in November as we go into our Winter months will assist you as well. Allow gentle forces to flow away from you all that is ready to transmute. APPLY THE INNATE KINDNESS OF YOUR HUMANITY THAT WE DISCUSSED LAST WEEK TO YOURSELF!
Chances are you have been aware of and working toward, leaving things behind that no longer enhance your time here on Earth. This is another opportunity to make that shift for yourself. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance from your Guide teams, Angels, Ascended Masters, Higher Self, and, of course, what you believe CREATOR to be. You never have to do this alone.
Additional influences on this alignment are Venus and Mars, the ruling planets for Taurus and Scorpio. Venus is the Goddess of our Solar System. She is Grace and Divine Love in her purest expression. She is coming into her moment to shine. Mars is the drive that helps us take action. Courage, Nobility, and Divine Structure are Mars at his best. The New Aquarian Age we are in is encouraging Mars to adjust his expression from aggressive warrior to something more benevolent.
The Native American cultures refer to this as the Beaver Moon. I think there is a way to incorporate this very nicely into the other prevalent energies. Beavers are the Builders. Their dams are magical habitats that support an entire ecosystem. When the dam breaks the Beavers immediately begin repairs. They discern which materials to use for repair, and which ones to leave out of the new structure. They also know when the site of their creation is no longer supported by the energies of the area. Sometimes they move on to more beneficial ground.
Applying this to our creations begs the question; which materials should remain in our life's structure, and which ones shall be allowed to join the flow away from us for transformation and rebirth? This Eclipse will help you decide and implement your choices

This Space.com article talks about what time the eclipse can be viewed in your area (cloud cover allowing) and also has links to articles about how to photograph the moon ( if you want to try and take pictures), phases of the eclipse explained, and an interactive eclipse map.

From the moon to the sun! Archaeologists believe that they have unearthed one of the lost Egyptian Sun Temples. The temple, lost for 4,500 years, has been found buried in the Egyptian desert south of Cairo and the find is being called ‘the biggest discovery in decades’. This Sun.com article details the find.

The Cambridge Dictionary word of the year has been announced. This word was looked up globally over 243,000 times. You will have to read This Mashable.com article to find out what the word of the year is, but it is a pretty meaningful one and sums up our 2021 journey pretty well!

What is the Institute for Spiritual Development?
It's both a metaphysical church and an educational center originally founded 40 yrs ago in Sparta, NJ. With the belief that all paths lead us Home, ISD is dedicated to helping each spirit walk their path with courage and joy.
We stand for each individual’s right to seek their own personal Truth, as they respect the same right for others. We honor the sacred texts of all traditions of the Light.
The Oneonta NY chapter of ISD was Lovingly created by Rev. Diana Friedell & her sister Rev. Sue Landon. We are now led by a powerful leadership team, and executive board.
ISD is a spiritual community that focuses on healing and intuitive connection, and the joy of finding the spirit connection within rather than being told how it should or could be experienced.
We welcome those who want to belong to a spiritual group of like-minded people, in which you can explore and find your own path in a community of love and support.
There are classes, services, events, and a sense of community and fellowship. Energy healing and intuitive messages are delivered as a regular part of the worship service.
