BAD BILL seeks an end-run around Urban Development Boundaries
Call your Representatives NOW to vote NO on HB 883
Florida's Urban Development Boundaries (like Miami-Dade County's UDB) protect our wetlands and wildlands from sprawl, and promote better living within municipal boundaries. Now the developers seeking to build outside the UDB have found a new way around this restriction --state legislation that will call for a popular vote (referendum) on existing boundaries every 10 years.

Miami-Dade’s UDB is the thin, imaginary line that protects the Everglades and agricultural lands from development, and encourages smart, transit-oriented growth within the county. Don’t allow developers to do an end-run around this important local zoning tool.

Call your Representatives NOW and urge them to VOTE NO on HB 883 . Tell them you object to language that undermines local planning and zoning authorities’ ability to establish and maintain their UDBs.

Contact Your Representative here.
Make Everglades Restoration a Federal Funding Priority
Register today for the Everglades Summit in DC April 24-25
Join fellow Everglades activists next month as the #NowOrNeverglades movement migrates to Washington D.C. April 24-25. Let's rally together and fight for the EAA reservoir, lobby for WRDA and raise our concerns about the cost of inaction. The Everglades is on life support -- it’s our job to save it.

Year of the Bird
March Action: Plant Bird-friendly Natives!
Birds often must rely on plants in our yards, on our balconies and patios for habitat and food, so the best plants to provide sustenance are those native to your area. To learn about the best plants for your area, search Audubon’s native plants database by your zip code. You can even search based on the birds you want to attract and the type of plants you want in your garden.

By growing the best bird-friendly plants for South Florida, you will attract and protect the birds you love while making your space beautiful, easy to care for and better for the environment --March is the perfect time to hatch a plan before rainy season. Learn more and find your plants here.

Get native plants and learn how you can bring plants for birds to your yard at #BeecauseFlea at TAS on Saturday, March 17, 10am-4pm. (Scroll down for more information).

What is Year of the Bird? Audubon, National Geographic, Cornell, BirdLife International and, most importantly, bird lovers everywhere are teaming up for a year of action for birds! Twenty-eighteen marks the Migratory Bird Treaty Act Centennial. To honor our country's most important bird-protection law it's important to remain vigilant about protecting birds in our own backyard. Year of the Bird is about celebrating the wonder of our feathered friends, examining how our changing environment is driving dramatic losses among bird species and learning what we can all do to reverse this trend.

Sign the pledge to build a better world for birds and each month, Audubon will send you one simple action you can take to make a difference for birds and for the planet.

The Birds Thank
The Birds Thank Whole Foods Market, America's healthiest (and greenest!) grocery store chain. Whether supporting Homestead farmers, Keys Fishermen or Florida Ranchers, Whole Foods Market keeps it local.

Our very own "Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet" near neighbor (located 3 blocks north of our campus on Red Road) has partnered with TAS to present "Walk in the Woods with Wine & Whisk" and the "Bee-Cause Flea" among other on-site events.

Supporting those vendors who support TAS is an easy way to contribute to our Mission.

The birds will thank you!
