We Now Have Daily Open Caption* Screenings!

The first show of each first-run feature in each of our three theaters every day will have open captions. Open captions provide an inclusive viewing experience that does not require patrons to ask for any special equipment. Our members and patrons can know that the first show of each film each day will be presented with open captions. We are pleased to offer daily open caption screenings of all of our first run films.

*English-language films will be captioned, while foreign language films already include subtitles

Giona Maiarelli of Maiarelli Studio to Exhibit at Cinema Arts Centre

Fabulous Faces features a series of paper collages from artist and graphic designer Giona Maiarelli. 

The show assembles 22 works that were created with glamour portraits and other images of Hollywood actors from the ‘30s to the ‘60s.

The black and white figures interact and fuse together with color pages from magazines evoking new abstract forms and narratives. Geometric interlopers punctuate the spare compositions — stains of bold color, typographic scraps, the backgrounds of front-page photos. The Hollywood dream is reshuffled and handed back to us, now flimsier and more expansive.

In his third solo show, Giona Maiarelli continues his exploration of the collective idealized perception of the America of his youth, growing up in his native Italy.

See the Awards Show on the big screen with your Cinema friends and family. Help us raise critical funds to support our programs and operations. Each ticket includes one entry into our famous Ballot Contest.

A buffet dinner will be provided by Butera's Restaurant! Our event will also include an open wine bar for those over 21. Great raffle prizes will be available. This fun night traditionally sells out fast!

LIMITED SEATING: In the event that our current inventory of tickets sells out, it is possible that additional seating may become available. To be on the waiting list, please email rene@cinemaartscentre.org with OSCAR SEATING in the subject line. Indicate how many tickets you would like to buy. Tickets will be made available to those on the waiting list according to time-stamp of request.

We Did It!

Thanks to 1,511 individual donors, we made our goal to raise $200,000 in program and operating funds through the annual Vic Skolnick Life of Our Cinema Campaign! Our campaign officially closes on January 31, and we do accept contributions at any time, but we wanted to let you know that thanks to you, we did what we set out to do, and we are so grateful.

Cinema Arts Centre programs bring a range of benefits to our community that are cultural, social, educational, and economic. We spend 80% of every dollar on direct program expenses and the rest on everything else that is necessary to deliver our mission. We have cut expenses while increasing programming. And we have not increased our basic membership prices or member ticket prices - keeping us accessible in our income-diverse area. Your contributions to our campaign make all of this possible.

Not only that, but you have made this our most successful annual campaign in our history - which is so meaningful as we continue our recovery after our prolonged shutdown.
